Toni's Review of Raw Desire by Kate Pearce ***3.5 Stars***

Unforgettable Pleasure

Ally Kendal knows returning to her hometown to sell her mother's house isn't going to be easy. She left in disgrace years ago and hasn't been back since. But she's never forgotten the one man who awakened in her a secret yearning for wildly erotic sexual pleasure. . .

Undeniable Desire

Rob Ward is surprised at the surge of desire he feels when he first sees Ally after all this time. He's gotten over the betrayal he felt when he found her and his best friend together on the eve of his wedding, but it's obvious he's never given up wanting her. And now that she's back he'll show her what she's missed, how good he makes her feel, how easy it is for him to take control and bring her to the edge of sweet surrender. . .

*****************

Running away from the past is never a good thing. It’s time to handle the errors of the past and move forward into the future. Three lives are about to change, but can they accept the life that fates holds for them or will they run again from the passion and the unknown?

Ally Kendal left Spring Falls over ten years ago and didn’t look back. But she seems destined to repeat the errors of her mother. Now it’s time for her to return home and make amends. With a town that would rather never hear her name or see her face again. People from small towns are slow on forgiveness, and fast to judge. Ally has a very long painful road ahead of her.

Rob Ward is the town’s revered son. Always coming out ahead in the choices he makes and appearing perfect to anyone who looks at him. But Rob has dark secrets too. While he may look ideal and genuine, he also has a dark desire. He is a dominate man who rules his life and his lovers. His strong hand and will ruined his future. But it has just showed up back in town. Now Rob is determined to fix the past, no matter what he has to do to do it.

Jackson Smith betrayed his best friend when he slept with his girlfriend Ally. After a stint in the military and recovering from his emotional wounds, he returns home. He repairs his relationship with Rob and tries to move on with his life. Unfortunately, he has secrets and desires that run deep and strong. It is time to take what he wants; nothing is going to stand in his way.

Raw Desire is a hot erotic read. Love and emotions also run high in this book. I enjoyed the story immensely. The three characters were deeply connected, yet worlds apart. I felt emotionally drawn to Ally. The lack of forgiveness from the town was horrible, but she held on strong and persevered. The true gems were the members of the community that were sympathetic and understanding. They empowered her to continue. The subplot of her mother’s reformation was a wonderful surprise and very endearing to me. It really started to show Ally that within herself she could find forgiveness and redemption. It was a wonderful touch.

Rob’s journey was not as warm and appealing. He was a jerk at times but during the story you saw a spark of understanding with an undercurrent of self discovery. Jackson was a pure delight. He is a quiet soul with so much confusion and turmoil. All I wanted to do was wrap him up and cuddle with him. He was wise and I believe the true backbone of this ménage. With his quiet demeanor and reflection, he was able to see the pitfalls and gently nudge Ally and Ron in the right direction. A lot of the times they didn’t go willing or at all, but he was there to help them up when they fell. I loved Jackson!

Unfortunately, I knew who the villain of the book was right from the get go. There were no surprises. So the mystery portion of the story just didn’t do it for me, but the budding reconnection of this relationship was fun and extremely heated.

Now that it’s been stated how much I enjoyed the book, I’m disappointed in the misleading blurb from the cover. Short of the names and the general premise of the storyline it doesn’t hold true. I honestly don’t remember the wedding being brought up and while I hate to be a spoiler this is 100% a M/F/M book. There are three definite partners in this relationship (obviously from my mentioning it above). I personally enjoyed the ménage, but I just thought it needed to be stated since some readers may not enjoy those types of novels.

Raw Desire is a sensual delight for the senses. Definitely raw and rough; the sex will get you hot and bothered, while the romance will have you cheering and exasperated. This book is a steamy addition to my erotic romance collection that will keep me up at night and have me fanning myself from start to finish.

Thanks for reading - Toni

Welcome to Author Bambi M Gray of Blood Cursed Series!

I'm very proud to introduce Author Bambi M Gray to Books Read 'N' Makup Done.  She has a wonderful series out and I had the pleasure of reading her first book in the series and I loved it.  I hope that you will give her a warm welcome!
Thank you Bambi for visiting!

Tree Knot Gazette’s Field reporter Tammy Foliage was lucky enough to catch up with Mia
Sanders and the Iron Heart Faction. This is her story.

Super creepy hotel. Not my idea of a great place to do an interview. I was headed out to meet up
with Mia Sanders. I’m sure you’ve heard by now about this remarkable dhampiresa. Born to a
vampire father and human mother is remarkable but on top of that she has some dark secrets
(that include a notoriously evil individual) and a quest Mia and her group are on. Also a little
love triangle has come to be. To sum it up we have some dark secrets, a love triangle, and an
important quest all explained in this interview. So sit back and enjoy.
Now back to the super creepy hotel that I was headed to. Almost to the door I was met by Loki,
fairy friend of Mia, and yes she is really scary in person. From Loki I learned there was a change
in venue and we headed down to the super creepy docks. As we arrived at the docks I took the
whole scene in. Gabriel, Mia’s father, was leaning up against his motorcycle, Viktor, Mia’s
friend and werewolf, stood next to Gabriel, and further down the docks sat Mia and her rumored
boyfriend Aidan, also vampire, softly talking to each other.

 Loki gathered everyone and made
introductions in a very rude manner. We then sat down a got right to it starting off with Mia.
Interviewer: First off thank you so much for this interview. I know you are busy and is Loki
always like that or is it just me?
Mia Sanders: No problem and yes Loki (making a face) is a royal pain in the ass to everyone so
don’t take it personal.
I: Laughing Ok. Just making sure. So give me an idea what it’s like to be a dhampiresa?
MS: Well, it sucks big time. Rolling eyes. That’s not completely true. I mean there are parts of
it that are totally cool like how strong and quick I am but I have a little problem with how I came
to be and my blood.
I: What problem is that?
MS: You want to field this one Gabriel?
Gabriel: I will. Long story short I went to a demon to so I would be able to have a child with
Mia’s mother. I was granted my wish but in turn Mia’s blood was cursed and now I am trying to
lift the curse.
I: Curse? Wow that is a problem. So is this demon known?
G: Yes, it was Zarek.
I: Another wow. You don’t mess around do you Gabriel?
G: No. It was what Mia’s mother and I both wanted and this was the only way to get it.
I: So any details on what the curse is about?
MS: That is not up for discussion. Period.
I: Uh ok. So why don’t you don’t call Gabriel dad?
MS: Gabriel has been trying to lift the curse so I didn’t even know him until recently. It’s been
weird and I’m not quite ready. Hell, I’m not even sure he’s ready.
No comment but a smirk from Gabriel.

I: I see. So how would you go about lifting this curse?
MS: Slightly agitated I said it once and I’m not saying it again. Off limits (Mia signed this in
the air also). Got it?
I: Yes I do. Ok, so before this problem with your blood came to light how was life before this?
MS: Sigh Terrible. I grow super fast. I’m only four but obviously I don’t look it. Nathan and I
were always moving around. He was always so paranoid about anyone finding out.
I: Who is Nathan?
MS: Nathan is my mother’s brother. Giggling He has helped me through everything from
protecting me from all the other supes that we’re drawn to me to getting me blood to drink.
I: Do you only drink blood?
MS: No, I can eat normal food too but I have to have blood to live. Only animal blood. No
biting allowed. Nathan’s rule not mine.
I: Nathan sounds strict.
MS: He can be or was.
I: Why was?
MS: Zarek is unhappy about the curse being lifted so he poisoned Nathan and we are trying to
get the antidote to save him.
I: That’s a lot on your plate Mia. How goes the search?
MS: We’re on the right track but you’re slowing us down so next question please.
I: Right. There have been a few rumors going around that you are being fought over. Care to
comment on that?
MS: Ugh. Stupid boys. I’ll state right now and here that I have a boyfriend and it’s Aidan.
I: So the rumors about Viktor and you are untrue?
Viktor: Well not completely untrue. We had a thing, decided to wait because of the whole
Nathan thing. We’ll pick up again after it’s all over.
Aidan: Over my dead body.
V: You are dead man. Get over it. She wants me.
A: I am so going to tear your neck out.
At this point Aidan and Viktor were nose to nose. Just when I thought Viktor was going to
change right there Mia stepped in between the two.
MS: See? What did I say? Stupid boys and their egos. Sit down the both of you.
I: Is this distracting or should I say is Viktor distracting?
MS: Look all supes are distracting to me. It’s like I have this mega sensitive radar and it goes
nuts when I get even remotely close to a supe. Also Viktor isn’t distracting. He’s annoying.
(Sticking out tongue at Viktor)
I: So for now you are a one guy gal?
MS: Yes I am. So next question. We really have to move out.
I: Ok just one more question. I know you’ve seen lots of weird stuff but if you could name one
thing that tops the list what would it be?
MS: Kiwis. My friend calls a man’s uh parts kiwis. Who the heck uses kiwis anyway?
I: I have to admit that’s a new one.
As they were leaving I shook their hands and wished them well on all their travels. It should
come as no surprise that Loki slapped me on the back of the head as a goodbye wave. She’s so
sweet you know.
I sat on the docks long after Mia and her friends headed off to finish their quest thinking of what
an amazing dhampiresa she was. Willing to brave so much with a very little chance of
succeeding in the end. It is my hope that they do succeed and we can again learn of their
adventures.

4 Stars for The Heart of War by Lisa Beth Darling

Inside the Heart of every Warrior breathes the Soul of a Hero--even within The Heart of War.
Meet Ares God of War, the
greatest Warrior the world has ever known. He's moody, grumpy,
dominant, ravenously sexual, and above all, built like a Greek God.

Suspected of killing his
Daughter in-Law, Psyche, and long in exile from Olympus, the solitude of
Ares' secluded Greek Isle is interrupted when Magdalena MacLeod a
plucky little Fey washes up on his shore after believing she's been
shipwrecked. It's not mere fate that has brought the unlikely couple
together yet it may be what tears them apart.

Branded with a golden
chastity belt bearing the mark of Cernunnos, Celtic God of the Forest
and Death, Alena has been on the run from her husband the Great Horned
God for 200 years.

When the Olympians
discover her presence on Ares' island, they send Apollo to the island
while Ares is away with orders to bring her to Olympus. With nowhere to
run and strikes a bargain with the God of War--her virginity for his
protection.

Ares sees a sweeter deal;
her in his bed and himself back in his rightful place on Olympus among
the Gods. If it means turning Alena over to Zeus afterward, well that's
of no consequence to him...is it?

After Alena proves
herself to the God of War in battle and in his bed, Ares must choose
between his Divinely Dysfunctional Family, his pride, and Alena.

Get lost in this sweeping
dark saga of lust, rage, revenge, and redemption. Battle Ancient Gods
while falling in love with Ares God of War and Alena MacLeod. They share
a love that will rock the world from the heights of Olympus to the
Celtic moors.

    *****************************************************************************

The God of War Ares finds a woman on his secluded island.  She's half dead and he doubts she'll survive the night, so he leaves her there. (What a nice guy)  Magdalena (Maggie) is a Fey woman who survives then wanders the island.  Ares finds her and isn't very kind, he goes after her and finds himself respecting the small Fey woman for her courage and perseverance.  He takes her to his home and somewhat befriends her.

The bond that Ares and Maggie form gets stronger with each passing day.  There are many conflicts along the way that they overcome together.  As the struggles get harder and harder it only seems to bring them closer and closer together.  The other Gods on Olympus just want their way, they are a greedy bunch.  You must read this in order to find out who wins in the end.  True Love formed from friendship or the Gods who wield their power for their own greedy means..

Review:

This book is extremely violent and sexually explicit. With that said, I really enjoyed it.  It reminded me of a great action/thriller film.  It sucks you right in because you have got to know what will happen next.  For every thrilling thing that happens in the book you get sucked in a little harder until finally you just can't stop reading.  The Heart of War is not for the faint of heart.  It has many hard scenarios like violence and rape.

Maggie is one of my favourite Heroines to date, she is strong but sweet and has a Sassy side to her that runs miles long.  She goes through so much but stays by her man.  That takes a lot of belief and determination.
I found Ares to be like what you would expect of a God, full of himself  greedy, ignorant due to ultimate power.  Through the Author's writing though you slowly begin to fall in love with this character.  It's such a slow build you don't even know it until your cheering out loud for him.

Lisa Beth Darling is truly an amazing writer.  She takes you on a torrid and thrilling journey.  I recommend this book to those who can handle RATED R reads because this one sure is not for the faint of heart! 4 Stars for a Great Read!

Shanon Grey's Character Interview!!!!!!!!!

If this picture is any indication of how this interview will go... Well... let's just say it's got to be WOW and AWESOME!
I'd like to introduce and welcome one of my favourite Authors and luckily for me my friend Shanon Grey.
She has kindly provided us with Superb Interview between her and her book's gorgeous Hero Dorian Drake!
*APPLAUSE*

Interview with Dorian Drake by Shanon Grey

It was one of those bright, hot, late summer days that kept the temperature hovering around ninety when I pulled into Ruthorford, Georgia. Even so, the town was as quaint as any I could have imagined. A fountain sprayed cool water high into the air, its mist touching me and giving back the slight curl that I’d worked so hard to get rid of this morning.
The sign, The Shoppe of Spells, rose above the shop, almost as a taunt. The sun glinted off crystals nestled among bottles positioned just so, making the windows sparkle. As I opened the door and stepped into the cool interior, a bell tinkled over my head. No one was there to greet me.
“Hello,” I called.
I heard a muttered, “damn,” a slight woof followed by “no,” and the back door slammed.
I looked in that direction. My breath caught. Suddenly faced with every inch of six-foot-plus shirtless male, muscles glistening and moving as he swung the shirt up and around, thrusting tanned arms into the sleeves, I felt my mouth water. Suddenly conscious of the cougar factor and hating the ten pounds I’d added over the summer, I offered a half smile.
“You must be Shanon Grey,” he walked forward and I watched each button hide his perfectly toned abdomen glistening above the low-slung jeans.
I nodded, or I think I did.

I saw ice blue eyes crinkle. He stuck out his hand, “Hi, I’m Dorian Drake.” As our hands met, I felt a slight tingle go up my arm. He pulled back his hand and offered a warm smile.
He had me. I’d follow him anywhere, which happened to be the kitchen/workroom in the back. I eased into the chair he held out and watched as he brought glasses and sweet tea to the table. I don’t think I’d yet made an intelligible sound.
As he sat across from me pouring a glass of tea and adding a fresh sprig of mint from a small vase on the table, I saw a slight line form beside his upper lip. Perfect white teeth gleamed. He was speaking. The fragrance of the mint snapped me back. I decided it would be prudent and professional to say something—other than, “I think I want you!”
I cleared my brain and my throat. “Thank you for agreeing to do this interview. I know the people who read the blog are looking forward to seeing…I mean hearing…more about you.”
He took a sip of tea and leaned back in the chair. “Sorry for the disarray. I was in the back and lost track of time. What can I tell you?”
I figured I’d better get the uncomfortable over first. “I want to offer my condolences—”
“It’s okay,” he interrupted, “I’m healing,” he added with a small lift to his perfect mouth. However, I saw sadness pass over his blue eyes.
“Have you lived in Ruthorford all your life?”
“Yes. Well, the part that I can remember. You see, the Kilravens raised me. I don’t know much about my biological family, if there is one.”
“What do you do around here for fun?” I rushed on.
“Well, I have the shop and the gardens. I generally go on down to the B & B a couple nights a week for dinner and to visit with friends.”
“B & B. You mean that huge Victorian down the road?”
“The very same. That and The Shoppe of Spells are the oldest buildings in Ruthorford.”
“The name, The Shoppe of Spells, sounds rather…,” I searched for a word.

“Magical?” he offered, his eyes flashing in merriment.
I could have sworn the crystals began to glow a little.
“Yes,” I stammered, watching him stretch out one long leg. My temperature rose.
“It was named by a proclaimed witch who fled to Ruthorford after being accused of casting a spell over a town muckety-muck.” He leaned forward.
I swallowed. “Did she?”
His voice grew low and soft, “What do you think?”
At that point, I would have believed anything he told me and wondered if he was a direct descendent of the witch.
He laughed. His voice washed over me like liquid gold. I could have sworn his eyes grew darker.
I heard the bell over the door tickle as it opened. “Yoo-hoo,” a voice twittered, “Dorian.”
“In the kitchen, Miss Grace,” he called over his shoulder, winked at me and stood.
A little bird of a woman traipsed into the room. She moved with a small bounce in her step, balancing a large ceramic dish. “I made a peach pie.”
“Miss Grace, this is Shanon Grey. She’s here to do an interview with me.”
The older woman’s smile faded and she turned toward Dorian. He reached out, placed a hand on her shoulder, and gave it an almost imperceptible squeeze. She turned back toward me, cocked her silver-haired head, and looked from the pie to me. Her silver eyes sparkled just like those crystals I’d seen in the window. Her expression changed and she beamed with pleasure. “That’s so nice, dear.” She set the pie on the table, right under my nose. “Why don’t you have some pie while you chat?” she chortled.

“Thank you, but I just had lunch,” I said. As I inhaled, the aroma fairly enwrapped my senses. “Maybe later,” I altered and hoped I wouldn’t dive head first into the plate.
“Dorian, you make sure she takes a piece home with her,” she smiled up to the tall man-God towering over her.
“Don’t worry, Miss Grace, I have every intension of giving her what she wants.”
The both stood there, looking at me, smiling. The crystals in the window behind Dorian sparkled.
I jumped up, grabbed my purse, mentioned something about a forgotten appointment, and raced to the door. “Thank you for the interview,” I stammered, not sure why I was fleeing.
As I pulled out, I waved back at the two, standing on the steps of The Shoppe of Spells. I could swear I could hear them laugh as I drove off.
Well, readers, I have to admit: What is in Ruthorford stays in Ruthorford, at least for the moment. I will find a way to tell his story. Just you wait and see.

I love writing about the extraordinary. Life never fails to provide me with a plethora of ideas. THE SHOPPE OF SPELLS, published byTurquoise Morning Press, is the first in my series, THE GATEKEEPERS.  I just signed a contract for the second book in the series, MEADOW’S KEEP. I am very excited about the stories and the characters and hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.
I spent my life on coasts, both the beautiful Atlantic and the balmy Gulf. Hurricane Katrina taught me about the fragility of life and the strength of friendship, family and starting over. I currently live in northern Georgia, having traded the familiarity of the coast for the lush beauty and wonder of the mountains, where my husband fulfilled my lifelong dream—to live in a cottage in the woods. There, I garner inspiration from horses grazing on rolling pastures and the deer that wander by to tease my incredibly tolerant dog.

What's for Supper?

I thought I'd do a fun little segment once a week called "What's for supper" and show you something I cooked for supper.  Just 1 day a week.  Might jog you ideas of what to make for supper for your family.  I know I struggle some days for an idea of what to cook.  Last week I made a Beef Stir-fry.

This is a fast and very easy meal.  All you need is:
  1. Cut Beef (small-medium pack)
  2. Bag of Frozen Stir-fry Veggies
  3. A bottle of Honey-garlic VH Sauce
Just cook your meat in a little but of virgin Olive oil.  When it's cooked throw in your veggies and sauce.  Cook until the veggies are soft.

On the side I cook some rice.

It's just minute rice with a little Margarine, salt, pepper and Oregano.

Here's what it looks like all put together.

Well that's my supper, hope you like it and will do something new next week :D

Toni's Review of Season for Temptation by Theresa Romain ***3.5 Stars***

Scheduled for an October 4th release.

Two Sisters...

Julia Herington is overjoyed when her stepsister, Louisa, becomes engaged--to a viscount, no less. Louisa's only hesitation is living a life under the ton's critical gaze. But with his wry wit and unconventional ideas, Julia feels James is perfect for Louisa. She can only hope to find a man like him for herself. Exactly like him, in fact...

One Choice...

As the new Viscount Matheson, James wished to marry quickly and secure his title. Kind, intelligent Louisa seemed a suitable bride... until he met her stepsister. Julia is impetuous--and irresistible. Pledged to one sister, yet captivated by another, what is he to do? As Christmas and the whirl of the London season approach, James may be caught in a most scandalous conundrum, one that only true love, a bit of spiritous punch--and a twist of fate--will solve...

********************

Lord Matheson needs a wife posthaste and he asking the first lovely lady that piqued his interest and that was his first mistake!

James has a few problems. First, he is engaged to an eloquent, intelligent, and enchanting woman that he doesn’t love. Second, he has to get married quickly to defuse the scandal that has befallen his sister and her daughters. Third, and the worst yet, he is in love with his fiancé’s sister. What is a Viscount to do?

When you envision a proper lady you see Louisa Oliver. Demure, proper and lovely, she was a perfect choice to become the next Viscountess. She is the complete opposite of her step sister, Julia Herington. Julia is impetuous, speaks her mind and is very vivid. These two women grew up together forming an unbreakable bond.

Julia is ecstatic about her sister’s engagement. Julia is unschooled in love and it doesn’t become clear to her right away that she is developing feelings for James. So she does what every respectable lady would do, she sets out to deter those feelings and to find herself a suitable husband. The London ton won’t know what hit them.

Poor Lord Matheson, he has countless problems and he still needs to maneuver the mazes of the ton. Society has been a thorn in his side all his life and now that he has found the perfect woman, he is not allowed to pursue her. Constant encounters, growing feelings and clueless vexing relatives are the least of his concerns. His head knows what needs to be done, now if only he can get his heart to agree. He must relinquish Julia once and for all.

This was a relaxing enjoyable read. The story was slow starting but engaging. The subject matter was handled extremely well. When you have a man who is engaged to a woman that he doesn’t love, but falls in love with her sister, you cannot have a rushed story. Ms. Romain was able to write a believable book that was thought out and thorough, an absolute joy. The last third of the book was absolutely the best and worth the journey to get there.

Season for Temptation is an entertaining read with an unconventional love triangle, quirky relatives and well placed humorous moments; a romantic tale for the senses.

Thanks for reading - Toni

StickerYou,com Great and Affortable Product for Everyone!

Here's a product I thought everyone would love.  It's Stickers that you can peronalize and print at home!  This is aweome for mom's who need stickers to reward their kids.  Wonderful for businesses that need to promote themsselves or even to add to the back of their business envelopes.
My first thought for this product though was that it would be great for author's to use as swag!  They can print their book cover's on the sticker and send them out signed!

The company that sells these sticker's is called www.stickeryou.com and it's a great product all around!  You can print coloured stickers or black and white.  This is an affordable product to.
To make your own stickers you have a couple of choices, you can buy it at store : Hobby Lobby in the USA or at Mastermind and Scholar's Choice in Canada. Also, you can buy the printer stickers online at

When you have your printer stickers you go on their site and make them!  Here is what it looked like for me.

I printed out a Sticker for my son with a picture of Mario, which I found online as a colouring page and a sticker for my daughter, I used only pictures they had on the site.  For myself I did a sticker of Books Read 'N' Makeup Done's Logo.  I also tried to make a new Logo  with only their pictures.  Here is how they turned out!

I love them!  They dried very quick and I was able to hand my son his sticker right away.  He loved it!  My 12 year old daughter said " That's totally cool, this rocks!" she then put it on her school binder and my own sticker well here is where I put it.

Unfortunately my colour in the printer ran out and I'll have to get more.  Though my logo is in colour it turned out beautifully in Black and White.  Another great feature of these stickers is they can be coloured!  I didn't have any markers lol but it can be done!
I think this product is GREAT!  I think it could be used for so many purposes and highly recommend it to EVERYONE.
If you would like to know more about the product it would be great if you would visit their Website: www.stickeryou.com
or
Go "LIKE" their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/stickeryou and tell them Leanne from Books Read N Makeup Done!

Back to the 80's then brought it back to 2011

I have decided to start working on Halloween makeup looks and the first look I did was an 80's Pop Star look.  Now, this is what my daughter is going to be for Halloween and I will most likely do the same look for her but add a lightening bolt to her cheek.
Here it is on paper.

For the look I did I did a full foundation and primer all over, darkened my eyebrows because they are naturally blonde.  I also contoured my face to make my cheeks more prominent.  For most of my makeup I used Mae Minerals.
Here are some pictures of me in my 80's look for Halloween minus the lightening bolt.

When I was done doing this look I wondered to myself if it would be possible to take this 80's look back to 2011.  I cleaned off a little bit of the colour and blended the blue (Peace from Mae Minerals) and I'm good for the day.  I managed to make an old look new :)

Well that's my first Halloween look for the season, the rest will be a lot more intricate be sure keep an eye out for it!
