Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker who always takes care of her own —no matter the cost....

When Evan Trueblood blows into town looking for his wife, Molly, he’s convinced that she came to see her best friend, Jane. But it seems like the witch made it to New Orleans and then disappeared without a trace.

Jane is ready to do whatever it takes to find her friend. Her desperate search leads her deep into a web of black magic and betrayal and into the dark history between vampires and witches. But the closer she draws to Molly, the closer she draws to a new enemy—one who is stranger and more powerful than any she has ever faced.

In the newest Jane Yellowrock series book Faith Hunter really weaves quite the web but she unravels it beautifully.  I really fancy this series and find myself looking forward to each new book.

Jane is trying to get back on her feet after everything she went through in the last book.  In this one Molly's husband shows up at her house getting his scare on wanting his wife to come out but Jane hasn't seen her.  So her mission becomes "find Molly". If that wasn't enough she is informed by the boss Vamp that she needs to hype up security for a big shing-dig.  Losts of mystery and fighting ensues.

Love it!  Full of action and mystery!  You will really enjoy this book!  5 STARS!

Need help clearing your home of spirits/ghosts? I got the book to help you!

When it comes to spooks, specters, and things that go bump in the night, knowledge is power and fear is the enemy. How to Clear Your Home of Ghosts & Spirits is a guide to everything you need to know about how to get rid of ghosts. Paranormal researcher Debi Chestnut provides a brief history of ghosts, and describes the types of ghosts, the different kinds of haunting, the reasons ghosts haunt, and tips and techniques for clearing them.
Also discussed are important topics such as how ghosts and spirits can be brought into the home accidentally, activities to avoid so as not to invite ghosts, and information on when and how to choose a paranormal team for extreme cases. Written in a no-nonsense style by an author with years of experience, this guide is a must-have for those who prefer to live with the facts instead of living in fear.

While browsing books to read and review I came across this book and thought to myself "That looks like an interesting read"  I was certainly right.  I enjoyed this book immensely.  It's like watching some of my favorite TV shows "Ghost Hunters or Ghost Adventures"  while entertaining it's also very informative.

I do believe in ghosts and spirits and I feel this book would be a good resource to others who also believe and are having problems with them in their home.  If you are then I highly recommend you purchase and read this book.

For seven years, Halina Beloi has been in hiding. But she's never forgotten Mitch Foster, the long, lean man she had to leave behind. Until, that is, Mitch shows up with a list of questions and a 9mm in his hand.
All Mitch knows is that Halina broke his heart and disappeared. But new information has surfaced implicating her as a player in the deadliest game of Mitch's life. This time, he's not letting go without answers. Now terror, danger and heat will fuse them together or shatter the future. . .

I love Joan Swan's writing!  I've been pretty lucky at getting to review Joan's books, her writing style is clean, uncluttered and the story-lines are easy to follow. This series is the bomb, it's got everything I look for in books. Action, mystery, intrigue, romance and paranormal elements.  It's the perfect read to take me away from the every day deluge.

Halina has been hiding for years but has just been found by Mitch.  While her world crumbles around her she clutches to her secrets even more. With powers she doesn't completely comprehend she saves Mitch's life over and over. Mitch knows there's more to Halina's story and he intends to find out what she is hiding before time runs out.

Joan Swan is one of my favorite new author's out there.  I hope you will give her books a try because your missing out if you don't.  I give this book 5 STARS!!!!

Be sure to check out my other review of Joan's book "FEVER"

5 STARS for "SECRET" by Brigid Kemmerer!!!! The Elemental Series!!!!

Keep his brother's business going or the Merricks will be out on the street.
Keep the secret of where he's going in the evenings from his own twin--or he'll lose his family.
Keep his mind off the hot, self-assured dancer who's supposed to be his "girlfriend's" partner.
Of course there's also the homicidal freak Quinn has taken to hanging around, and the Elemental Guide counting the hours until he can try again to kill the Merrick brothers.
There's a storm coming. From all sides. And then some.
Nick Merrick, can you keep it together?

Another great book by "Brigid Kemmerer" her Elemental series Rocks!  Another brother fights for the right to be alive and to enjoy life.  This book is even more heartfelt then all the others and touches on some very touchy subjects.

I really enjoyed reading this book it was like have to great books in one due to the characters.  Brigid is an amazing author and I hope more readers will pick up her books because they are simply perfect.  Good for any age!

Review for "Kiss Me on This Cold December Night" by Charlotte Phillips

The third novella in Charlotte Phillips’ deliciously sensual Do Not Disturb series.
Christmas in London – a time for late night shopping on Regent’s Street or ice skating at Somerset House under a blanket of twinkling fairy lights, the warming, welcoming aroma of mulled wine in the air…

Or, alternatively, a time for bumping into the ghosts of one night stands past in Ella Scott’s case!

Checking into her boutique hotel for a weekend of Christmas shopping, the last person Ella expects to bump into at reception is Tom bloody Henley – ambitious doctor, highly eligible bachelor and with whom she had the most unbelievable, mind-blowing brief encounter five Christmases ago.

But Ella slipped out quietly the morning after all those years ago for a reason and although Tom’s got a look on his face that suggests Christmas has come early, there’s no way she’s going to be repeating past mistakes… right?

Unfortunately.... This was not one of my favorite reads this year.  I'll admit there was lots of romance and hot scenes but no substance to back it up.

Ella gets invited to enjoy a trip with a friend that doesn't show up due to a storm and Tom gets stuck in the city due to the same weather.  They had met before and the encounter remains with them.  Tom is determined for them to become reacquainted

This story reminds me of jumping into a puddle with both feet.  There's no real beginning to get you ready for the story or characters.  Then when you get to the middle of the story there's not much of a climax.  The only redeeming feature of the story is the love scenes.

If your looking for an easy read I'd recommend this.  I give this book 3 Stars!

Review for Sweet Revenge by Rebecca Zanetti

The One Man She Can't Have
Matt Dean was born to fight . . . and kill. A member of a secret black-ops military unit, he and his brothers were genetically engineered by the government to be the perfect soldiers with an expiration date. Now, with time running out, he's gone rogue in a relentless quest for the one person who can save them. His mission leads him to Charmed, Idaho . . . and to a beautiful woman with eyes like emeralds and a body made for pleasure.

The One Woman He Can't Resist

Laney Jacobs knows the mysterious, handsome stranger is trouble from the moment he walks into her bar, looking for a job. She's spent years running from her own past-the last thing she needs is a romantic entanglement. But Matt's strong arms offer her protection and his gentle touch promises passion unlike anything she's ever known. As lethal forces surround them, revealing explosive secrets about Matt's past and putting everything-and everyone-he holds dear in danger, can he save them all before time runs out?

Awesome!!!!  This book had it all! Lots of romance, action, deception and romance.  I'd have no problem placing a bow on this book and giving it to my pals for a present.

Matt Dean is Hot and Deadly!  Black Op military specialist he's trying to find the Doctor that implanted him and his team with devices that could end their lives.  It's a fight against time and people who have the financing to do pretty much anything to stop them.

Laney Jacobs seems to be a woman of contradictions.  Almost like she has split personalities.  She's hiding and does not want to be found, if she is only bad things can come from it.

I can see this book being the beginning of a wonderful series but I think it may be stand alone.  Either way it's an awesome book and it's worth reading!

Review for "Santa Wore Leathers" by Vonnie Davis 5 Stars!!!

Take one man-shy reporter, a gorgeous ex-Navy SEAL turned firefighter, add in a thong-stealing dog… and Christmas will never be the same again!
There’s only one thing on Becca Sinclair’s Christmas list this holiday season – her very own column in the local paper. And if she can build a huge blog following, her wish just might come true.

A Navy SEAL turned commander of the Florida Marine Rescue Unit, Wolf’s the very definition of the word alpha – and with an endless rotation of women on his doorstep, this hunk on a Harley has Becca and her female followers all hot and bothered!

All Becca wants for Christmas is her newspaper column, right? But when she finds herself the target of Wolf’s irresistible attentions, her snarky comebacks become less and less convincing and, suddenly, she’s not so sure anymore…

This book was hilarious!  I really enjoyed this read.  This was a fun holiday read.  I read parts of it to co-workers and we were in stitches.

Becca is a journalist who has been hurt by past relationships and is gun shy when it come to dating.  The poor woman just wants to get on with her life but her dog has other ideas.  The dog includes neighbor "Wolf" in the havoc he is causing. Wolf is an ex-navy seal turned fire fighter who is as hot as the fires he puts out.  Becca tries to resist but the dog won't leave it be.

Review od "Race To Kill" by Rachel Kall

When fiercely independent Vivian Reese is thrust onto the national stage during a heated presidential campaign, she doesn't expect to become a media darling. She also doesn't expect to start to fall for her sexy new bodyguard, Marcus Locke. But when threats start surfacing against the sitting President's campaign and all evidence points to Vivian, she doesn't know who to trust. Delta Force Operator turned FBI agent Marcus Locke is supposed to be investigating campaign finance crimes. He's not supposed to be checking out the sexy, eloquent campaign spokeswoman Vivian Reese, who's one of his prime suspects! But when they are caught in the middle of a presidential race that is quickly turning deadly, he is forced to put both his heart and his job in the line of fire. Tempers flare and passions ignite as the campaign gets dangerous, but when bullets start to fly will either of them survive?

This was a good book, a little easy to predict but good just the same.

Vivian works for a politician that is running for President and is requested to cover media interviews for him to drum up the votes.  She begins getting letters from a stalker, a bodyguard is hired to keep her safe.

Marcus is the new bodyguard and he really likes Vivian who is prim and proper but has no problem standing up to him.

I enjoyed the storyline and it had good flow but as I said it was pretty easy to determine what would happen next.  If you enjoy political suspense with romance this is a good one for you.

Review of Safe by the Marshall's Side by Shirlee McCoy

For a year, U.S. marshal Hunter Davis has protected witness Annie Delacorte and her toddler daughter. But now, someone is determined to stop Annie from testifying against the men who killed her husband. To guard Annie, by-the-book Hunter will have to break a promise to himself: to not get emotionally involved. After all, he already cares more deeply than he ever imagined for the sweet family of two…a family he'll do anything to keep safe and sound by his side.

Witness Protection: Hiding in plain sight

It is so nice to see a cover that matches the book and the character's descriptions.  The cover of this book truly represents the story.  I enjoyed this read, it was realistic and easy to follow.

Annie Delacorte was placed in protective custody when she agreed to stand trial against a high profile loan shark who killed her husband.  The Marshall in charge of her safety is Hunter Davis and he's vowed ti keep Annie and her baby girl safe from harm.  After spending so much time together the inevitable happens, Hunter and Annie are falling for each other.  The safe house is also discovered and they are all on the run.  They must keep her safe so that the man who murdered her husband will pay dearly for making her child lose her father.

If you enjoy Harlequin books then you with enjoy this one.  It has lots of action.  It's and easy and fun read to pass sometime.

Review for Shadow Ops: Breach Zone by Myke Cole

The Great Reawakening did not come quietly. Across the country and in every nation, people began “coming up Latent,” developing terrifying powers—summoning storms, raising the dead, and setting everything they touch ablaze. Those who Manifest must choose: become a sheepdog who protects the flock or a wolf who devours it…

In the wake of a bloody battle at Forward Operating Base Frontier and a scandalous presidential impeachment, Lieutenant Colonel Jan Thorsson, call sign “Harlequin,” becomes a national hero and a pariah to the military that is the only family he’s ever known.

In the fight for Latent equality, Oscar Britton is positioned to lead a rebellion in exile, but a powerful rival beats him to the punch: Scylla, a walking weapon who will stop at nothing to end the human-sanctioned apartheid against her kind.

When Scylla’s inhuman forces invade New York City, the Supernatural Operations Corps are the only soldiers equipped to prevent a massacre. In order to redeem himself with the military, Harlequin will be forced to face off with this havoc-wreaking woman from his past, warped by her power into something evil….

War in an alternate universe, the bad guys are on the rampage and want to take over the world or just destroy it.  This is an action packed read.  So much so that it's hard to stay focused on the story.  I got lost through the book a few times.  However, it was a pretty good read and I was able to picture the scenarios.

There is quite a few characters in the book and that is why I got lost, I kept mixing them up and it made it a bit tough for me to keep up with the characters an each of their parts in the war.

If you like books with multiple characters, action and paranormal abilities this is an excellent book for you.

As bodies pile up in the wake of a storm—stripped, tortured and grimly posed—authorities must admit the unthinkable. The serial killer dubbed the Stormchaser has returned following a tornado and taken it upon himself to bring the death toll up to where he believes it belongs.

FBI investigator Wade Luckett is back on the case, assisted by an agent Wade knows professionally and personally: his ex-wife, Jo. Neither time nor the tragedy that tore them apart have blunted the ache Wade feels for brave, beautiful Jo. And though she tries to deny it, she feels the same. But the stirrings of renewed romance will have to wait until they catch a killer.

The Stormchaser has no intention of getting caught. He's set his sights on a new victim. Jo can forget about the lifetime she dreams of spending with Wade. She'll be lucky to see another day.

Another great book by Sharon Sala, this author has a way with words she weaves descriptions like a spider weaves a web; with true perfection.  This is book two in the series "Forces of Nature".  Book one in the series is called "Going Once".  A great series with a thrilling aspect in each one.

FBI investigators are trying to figure out who the serial killer "StormChaser" is.  A conniving killer who kills survivors from natural disasters. Agent Wade was onc4e married to Agent Jo and they are thrown together to investigate the crimes being committed during and after the devastating storms.  The killer changes his MO when things do not go his way and all becomes a guessing game.

This was a thrilling read and I love reading any book that describe people who are surviving natural disaters and no writes books about natural disasters as well as Sharon Sala.  She describe each scene in perfect detail.

Review for HUNTED by Elizabeth Heiter

Terror stalks a small Virginia town.

FBI rising star, criminal profiler Evelyn Baine, knows how to think like a serial killer. But she's never chased anyone like the Bakersville Burier, who hunts young women and displays them, half-buried, deep in the woods. As the body count climbs, Evelyn's relentless pursuit of the killer puts her career - and her life - at risk. And the evil lurking in the Burier's mind may be more than even she can unravel.

Terror is closer than she thinks.

The Bakersville Burier knows he's got an FBI profiler on his trail. He knows who she is and where to find her. And he's biding his time, because he's planned a special punishment for Evelyn. She may have tracked other killers, but he vows to make this her last chase. This time it's her turn to be hunted!

Excellent book!  This book was quite the thriller.  It had me checking behind me for days.

FBI profiler Evelyn is no one's fool, she's smart and resourceful.  Evelyn is able to get into a serial killer's mindset and is able to come up with a very accurate profile but this case has her seconbd guessing herself because something just won't add up about the killer.

This was my first book written by this author and I will definitely read more.  I enjoyed her writing and the personalities of the characters.  If you enjoy a good thriller I recommend giving this book a try. It was a literary "Criminal Minds".

 We're searchin' for
A treasure chest
The gold and silver

A pirate's life
Is the life for me

Hiking, fire, hot men, family gathering, weddings and pirates... This book has it all.  Welcome to the "CiderBrook Series"  I am loving this book.  It's got romance, mystery and action.  My favorite kind of book.

I don't know how the author managed to pack so much into one book but she did and she did it very well.  Samantha is intrigued by a book about a pirate and then sees a painting that intrigues her.  With researching to do she heads to Cider Brook to find a treasure.  Justin Sloan saves Samantha from death by fire.  Justin is intrigued by Samantha and wants to know what she is up to.  They sizzle together.

This book is worth reading!  You will really enjoy it because it has all the qualities a great romance should have.  Be sure to check it out  ME MATEYS!

Review for DO OR DIE by Suzanne Brockmann

Suzanne Brockmann’s seamless blend of heroic military action and intense passion inspired USA Today to call her “a superstar of romantic suspense”—and for years her award-winning Troubleshooters books have been must-reads for fans of sizzling stories of action and adventure. Now the New York Times bestselling author shoots to thrill again with Do or Die, an electrifying new novel that is certain to win Brockmann new readers and delight devotees.

Navy SEAL Ian Dunn went rogue in a big way when he turned his talents to a lawless life of jewel heists and con jobs. Or so the world has been led to believe. In reality, the former Special Ops warrior is still fighting for good, leading a small band of freelance covert operatives who take care of high-stakes business in highly unofficial ways. That makes Ian the hands-down choice when the U.S. government must breach a heavily guarded embassy and rescue a pair of children kidnapped by their own father, a sinister foreign national willing to turn his kids into casualties. Shockingly, Ian passes on the mission for reasons he will not—or cannot—reveal.

But saying no is not an option. Especially not for Phoebe Kruger, Ian’s beautiful and unexpectedly brash new attorney. Determined to see the abducted children set free, she not only gets Ian on board but insists on riding shotgun on his Mission: Impossible–style operation, whether he likes it or not.

Though Phoebe has a valuable knack for getting out of tight spots, there’s no denying the intensely intimate feelings growing between Ian and Phoebe as the team gears up for combat. But these are feelings they both must fight to control as they face an array of cold-blooded adversaries, including a vindictive mob boss who’s got Ian at the top of his hit list and a wealthy psychopath who loves murder as much as money. As they dodge death squads and play lethal games of deception, Ian and Phoebe will do whatever it takes to save the innocent and vanquish the guilty—or die trying.

Another awesome book by Suzanne Brockmann.  She is one of my favorite authors and her books never disappointment.  They are full of action and mystery.  This book is no different it kept me intrigued from beginning to finish.

Pheobe Kruger is a lawyer who is new to a firm and is given Ian Dunn's file.  She's thrown into quite a conundrum. This prim and proper lawyer will do all she can for her client.  She just had no idea it would in tale so much.  Ian Dunn is in prison for a crime he didn't commit but plans to stay there.  The FBI has different ideas, they make it impossible for Ian to stay in jail.  They want him to save two children that are stuck at an embassy.  With politics being what they are they need someone who can work around the system to free the children.

Suzanne Brockmann did a superb job creating a web of lies and and characters to unravel it all.  I highly recommend you give this book a read because it will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Reviews for Christmas Reads to get you in the Holiday Spirit!

All he wants this Christmas is her.

In the small town of Crystal Lake, Christmas is a time for sledding, hot chocolate, and cozying up to the fire with those you love. For Jake Edwards, it’s also time to come home and face his past. He thought there would never be anything harder than losing his brother. Turns out there is: falling in love with his brother’s widow, Raine.

Ever since they were little, Jesse was the Edwards brother who was always there for her, and Jake was the one who knew just how to push her buttons. Raine can’t imagine a life without them, which is why it was doubly decimating when Jake left town after his brother’s sudden death. Now he’s back and she doesn’t know whether to be mad or thrilled. Maybe both. Maybe it will be the perfect chance for both of them to finally find happiness again

Jake is a soldier who has been through so much, he has lost his twin brother and continues to relive the tragic death through nightmares.  The guilt eats at him.  Raine was once married to Jake's twin brother and is mourning him.  She was counting on Jake for a shoulder to lean on but he is unable to help her because his own feeling are overwhelming him.

This is a very heart wrenching story, it takes you through up and downs.  It has happiness in it but there is a lot of trials and tribulations to get to the happiness.

I recommend this book for those that are looking for a read that goes a little deeper but does have the sentiment of Christmas.

Christy Monroe hates Christmas. The excess, the inevitable disappointments--bah. Dan Rose loves Christmas. The fun, the way his bakery smells—it’s all a little magical, especially in Snow Creek. When their first-grade daughters decide they want to be sisters, Christy and Dan had better watch out. The girls maneuver their parents into organizing the elementary school holiday show together. It doesn’t take long for Dan to make it his goal to change Christy’s mind about Christmas—and taking a chance again on love.

After losing her parents, Jessica can't bear to lose her childhood home and family bookstore, too. When they're taken from her, she has nowhere to go…except the arms of Daniel, Snow Creek's resident hero paramedic. It's not be the Christmas miracle Jessica wanted, but it might the one she needs….

There’s no doubt in Eileen Ledger’s mind that the last time she saw hockey superstar Paul McAlester she made the biggest mistake of her life. Only, she’s never been sure if the mistake was in kissing him, or in running away. But ten years later, Paul is back in town for Christmas, and Eileen has a second chance to make things right…as long as she can keep herself from falling in love again.

Knitting has always served as a distraction, something that Clara can hide behind. After a significant weight loss, though, she's still not sure if she wants to be noticed. When sexy Lincoln ends up on the front porch of her yarn store, he seems to see everything clear as day. Will Clara finally be seen for her true self?

Caroline Bonny has always known about her family curse: no Bonny daughter will ever marry until her great-great-great-grandfather's buried treasure is found. Caroline has made her peace with her life as a spinster-turned-cosmetologist, until easy-on-the-eyes schoolteacher Lance Carter comes to town determined to drown his recent breakup in holiday festivities.

Nick and Ally Carpenter split up months ago after years of infertility treatments crushed their marriage and their dreams of children. When the couple reunites for the holidays to make a dying woman happy, can an unexpected miracle show them the way back to love or is it too late?

This was an amazing read!!!  The stories all take place in the same little town and it just one Christmas happy story after another.  This book will suck you into the Holiday spirit, you have no choice after reading it.

I'm sure you can feel me smiling through the words I write.  I really enjoyed reading these stories.  So many different charcters and personalities.  Each story is well done and fun to read.  None of them left me wanting more. Each story meshes well with the next and they keep you wanting to read to the very last page.

Please do read this book to get you in the mood for Christmas miracles.  My favorite story in the book was "The Holiday Show".  I hope you will read this book and let me know which was your favorite!

A classic heartwarming tale for the holidays from New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery

The cheer in Fool's Gold, California, is bringing out the humbug in dancer Evie Stryker. An injury has forced her to return home to her estranged family. So she won't add to the awkward scenario by falling for the charms of her brother's best friend, no matter how tempting he is. When she's recruited to stage the winter festival, she vows to do as promised, then move on, anywhere but here.

Jaded lawyer Dante Jefferson is getting used to the town he now calls home, but the pounding of little dancers' feet above his office is more than he can take. When he confronts their gorgeous teacher, he's unprepared for their searing attraction. Evie is his best friend's sister—off-limits unless he's willing to risk his heart. Dante has always believed that love is dangerous, but that was before he had to reckon with the magic of a certain small town, where miracles do seem to happen….

Susan Mallery never disappoints us with her Fool's Gold series.  I highly enjoyed this book.

Evie Stryker is a dancer who recently got hurt during a football game.  While recovering she was wisked away by her family back to her hometown of Fool's Gold.  She has mixed feelings about being back and has decisions to make while recuperating.  In the mean time she is teaching dance classes in old buil;ding that also houses the office of lawyer Dante Jefferson.

Dante Jefferson is Evie's brother's best friend and business partner.  He does his best to help where ever he can.  In this case he is helping with the annual Winter Festival.  He helps Evie at every turn and they become closer to each other.

There is an abundance of holiday spirit in Fool's Gold and it really help get you in the mood for Christmas.  This book was a pleasure to read and I recommend you try out the "Fool's Gold Series".

 Mrs. Miracle on 34th Street

This Christmas, Emily Merkle (just call her Mrs. Miracle) is working in the toy department of Finley's, the last family-owned department store in New York City. And her boss is none other than Jake Finley, the owner's son.

For Jake, holiday memories of brightly wrapped gifts, decorated trees and family gatherings were destroyed in a Christmas Eve tragedy years before. Now Christmas means only one thing to him—and to his father. Profit. Because they need a Christmas miracle to keep the business afloat.

Holly Larson needs a miracle, too. She wants to give her eight-year-old nephew, Gabe, the holiday he deserves. Holly's widowed brother is in the army and won't be home for Christmas, but at least she can get Gabe that toy robot from Finley's, the one gift he desperately wants. If she can figure out how to pay for it…

Fortunately, it's Mrs. Miracle to the rescue. Next to making children happy, she likes nothing better than helping others—and that includes doing a bit of matchmaking!

This Christmas will be different. For all of them.

Due to this book I am truly ready for Christmas.  This books has all the elements it takes to be a perfect Christmas story.  Highs and lows and miracles abound.

There are some wonderful characters in this book.  Mrs. Miracle a kindly older lady helps bring Christmas cheer to the department store Findley's.  She helps Manager and store owner's son Jake sell toy Robots.  Jake feels it'll be this years big seller.  Like Cabbage Patch Kids or Elmo was in the past.

Holly is Gabe's aunt, a great lady who has no children of her own.  She is caring for Gabe, his father is in the army and is in the Middle East.  She wants to make a special holiday for her nephew and to try and make peace with her own feelings of being inept with children.

Jake and Holly meet while Gabe is mooning over the toy robot.  With a little holiday magic just maybe all their Christmas wishes will come true.

I feel like I really lucked out getting to read this book.  It's strife with the magic of the holidays and it made me feel like I had witnessed a truly special moment.  I highly recommend you read this book because it just may make you appreciate Christmas a little more.

Claire Bowman and her twin sister, Sarah, have been making up stories and creating music and art together their entire lives.  Their parents claimed they were harmonizing together from their infant cribs. They now perform and tour internationally as The Bowmans and have successfully released three albums plus their new Christmas album due just released October 29th. Claire's debut illustrated story book, Mert the Anxious Evergreen (November 7, 2013), the triumphant tale about a little pine tree who longs to grow up to be a Christmas tree, was actually inspired by one of the carols on their holiday album.

Mert is an endearing tale of an anxious tree who wishes to save his beloved home from encroaching land development by being chosen as a Christmas tree, though he doesn't know how. He believes that he will be able to prevent the razing of Hickory Flats farm and forest if only he can find Christmas spirit -- as he conspires with his friend John the cat to overcome new obstacles.  Mert, preciously naïve, mistakenly believes he needs the powerful Christmas spirit in order to achieve anything, but as it turns out he stumbles onto success with the help and love of all those around him.
Beautifully written and boldly illustrated, Mert is a tale of Christmas love that you won’t soon forget, sharing warm lessons in friendship, family relationships, camaraderie, finding humor in life’s tough situations, man’s struggles to preserve something good and hope.

Mert the Anxious Evergreen is a special children's book but cannot be enjoyed in one sitting with a young child who cannot listen for more then 10 minutes at a time.   I managed to only get to 43% of the book before my son said he'd had enough and that the book was too long.

I unfortunately had to agree with my eight year old.  It was a bit too long winded.  The storyline is superb and the illustrations beautiful.

I wouldn't recommend reading this book via an ereader because you lose the beautiful colors and it is much too hard to read.  I tried changing the size of the letters but then I would lose the pictures in the book.

Please do read the book in person to truly enjoy it.  I also recommend reading it to a child that has a longer attention span then my son. lol

Children and adults alike will fall in love with this adorable little reindoe who lives at the North Pole. Darling wants to be just like all the other reindeer and reindoes in her village, but she is different...her tail has a curl. And Darling discovers that being different isn't much fun. That is...until her wise Uncle Don decides that Darling's curly tail needs a pail...and then Darling becomes a favorite among the reindeer, reindoes, elves and even Mrs. Claus. This lovable tale is sure to become a Christmas classic as Darling with her curly tail prances her way into the hearts of children of all ages.

No one likes to be different unless they can be unique.  This book not only teaches children that it's ok to be different but to embrace it.

I adored this Christmas tale and so did my son.  It was not too long and had just the right words to keep him interested and reading along with me.  He really enjoy the pictures and tried guessing what would happen next.

This book is just as enjoyable as Rudolph was to me as a child.  I could see this book becoming a children's favorite during the holidays.

I hope you enjoyed my reviews for this Holiday season, may they get you in the spirit!

ARC Review for Kelly Armstrong's "Sea Of Shadows" APRIL 2014

KELLEY ARMSTRONG is the author of the New York Times-bestselling books The Summoning, The Awakening, The Reckoning, and The Gathering,The Rising, as well as the internationally acclaimed Women of the Otherworld series. Armstrong lives in rural Ontario with her husband and three children. Visit her at

In the Forest of the Dead, where the empire's worst criminals are exiled, twin sisters Moria and Ashyn are charged with a dangerous task. For they are the Keeper and the Seeker, and each year they must quiet the enraged souls of the damned.
Only this year, the souls will not be quieted.
Ambushed and separated by an ancient evil, the sisters' journey to find each other sends them far from the only home they've ever known. Accompanied by a stubborn imperial guard and a dashing condemned thief, the girls cross a once-empty wasteland, now filled with reawakened monsters of legend, as they travel to warn the emperor. But a terrible secret awaits them at court--one that will alter the balance of their world forever.

I feel so privileged to have been able to be among the chosen who got to read this wonderful ARC.  Kelly Armstrong is one of my favorite authors.  She's a brilliant writer and this new trilogy is going to be amazing!

Book One certainly is that and more!  The main characters in this book are twins Moira and Ashyn who are known as the Seeker and Keeper of Edgewood.  Like all twins they have different personalities and talents but together they are amazing.

The twins live next to the "forest of the damned".  Ominous.  I know. One sister must put the souls there to rest while the other waits for her to come back. Moira is impetuous and wants to be with her sister, she has a feeling something is not right.

For Ashyn who is trying to put the souls to rest one thing after another goes wrong and the bad omen of that comes to fruitation when shadows begin to kill people.

If you're already a fan of Kelly Armstrong's writing then your going to love this book!  If your not, then you should be because her books are wrought with imagination and action to keep you flipping the pages.

Review for TENDERLOIN by Ty Hutchinson

Life in San Francisco could not be better for FBI Agent Abby Kane and family. With white-collar crimes dominating her work schedule, chasing deranged killers is a thing of the past, until the body of a dead DEA agent pops up in Bogotá.
Ordered to Colombia for answers, Abby’s investigation takes her deep into the Amazon jungle where she discovers evidence of strange experiments at a rundown lab. When she later crosses paths with one of the scientists involved, she learns that a new drug has been invented, and its danger isn’t the addictive high but the terrifying side effects.
Abby believes the cartels are behind the drug, but the locals think it’s one man. They call him The Monster.

First and foremost the cover of this book caught my eye like nothing else.  I love the cover!  The book itself.... I really enjoyed it to!

As you know mystery with no romance isn't really my genre of books but I really enjoyed this one.  From beginning to end it keeps the brain rolling.  I truly didn't get who the bad guy was until the book itself revealed the person.

This read is highly imaginative and it brings the main character Abby to life.  I had no problem picturing the petite FBI woman.  She's something else.  She lost her husband and took on his 2 children as her own and with the help of her mother-in-law Po-Po she is making things work.

Abby is called away on a job and is out of her element when she is paired with a Colombian investigator.  They are trying to find out who is killing people is such unbelievable manners.

I highly recommend you read this book if your a fan of mystery, thrillers and science experiments gone terribly wrong.

ARC Review for The Spider by Jennifer Estep 2014

Ten years ago. A blistering hot August night. I remember like it was yesterday. The night I, Gin Blanco, truly became the Spider. Killing people is what I do best, especially now that I’ve honed my Ice and Stone magic. But back then, I had yet to learn one very important rule: arrogance will get you, every single time.
This particular job seemed simple: murder a crooked building contractor with ties to ruthless Fire elemental Mab Monroe. My mentor, Fletcher Lane, had some misgivings, but I was certain that I had the situation under control . . . right up until I exposed my weaknesses to a merciless opponent who exploited every single one of them. There’s a reason assassins aren’t supposed to feel anything. Luckily, a knife to the heart can fix that problem, especially when I’m the one wielding it. . . .

Another great book in the "Elemental Assassin Series"  Jennifer Estep once again shows us what an amazing writer she is.

Gin is such a great character.  She's tough as nails, smart and always has great comebacks.  I like her smart alack comments and witty repartee with whomever she's talking to.

This book actually gives us a look at the younger Gin, it tells the story of how and why she is tougher then ever before.  In her past she was given the job of killing a man but the job wasn't quite what it seemed and it's the anniversary of that assassination.  This read truly gives you a true view of the character that is Gin.

I highly recommend you read Jennifer Estep's newest book in the series.  She continues to get better and better.

Review for The Cowgirl Ropes a Billionaire by Cora Seton

Bella Chatham will lose everything – her veterinary practice, her animal shelter, and even her home – if she can’t find another source of income, fast. So when her best friend signs her up for the hot new reality television show, Can You Beat a Billionaire, Bella accepts the challenge and hopes against hope she can win the ten million dollar prize. If she doesn’t, it’s bye-bye pet clinic and shelter, bye-bye Chance Creek, Montana, and hello to marriage to the billionaire for a year!

Evan Mortimer, billionaire, can’t believe he’s reduced to competing in a television contest to win a wife. Unfortunately, it’s the only foolproof way to secure his position as head of Mortimer Innovations. At least he’ll be able to dump his “spouse” at the end of the year; he’s much too busy to be tied down to a country bumpkin cowgirl.
Bella doesn’t expect her adversary to be handsome – or funny, or compassionate – but Evan’s all three, and he’s proving a tough competitor, too. When they end up sharing a tent – and a sleeping-bag – her body betrays her with a longing so deep it cuts her to the core. Still, this cowgirl must stay strong. If Evan uncovers her secret fears, he’ll use them to win the contest – and then he’ll own her for a year. She’ll be out of luck, out of cash, and stuck being Mrs. Mortimer until he kicks her to the curb. Too bad she can’t decide which is worse – winning the show and losing Evan forever, or losing the show and only being his temporary wife.
Evan can’t believe he’s falling for the one woman who doesn’t want him. This cowgirl’s not impressed by his money, his name, or his inability to sleep in a tent with her for an entire night, but every look and touch she gives him sends his desire through the roof. With a director determined to use his claustrophobia to make him look like a fool, and an adversary so sexy he can hardly see straight, he’ll need all his savvy to come out on top. Too bad he’s going to lose no matter how this show turns out. If he beats Bella, he’ll destroy the first woman he’s ever loved. If he doesn’t beat her, it’s bye-bye Mortimer Innovations.
Will either of them remember in time that it’s not who wins or who loses – it’s how they play the game that really counts?
Sweet, fun, heartwarming, unique and humorous are just a few words I can find to describe this wonderful book.  This book was the perfect sunny day fun read.  From start to finish I could not put this book down.
Bella is such a sweet and giving woman with a heart of gold and nerves of steel.  She gets tricked into a TV contest like "Survivor"  going up against a rich Tycoon who is bent on getting a fake wife for a year.  Things don't quite turn out the way Evan hopes and so it's a contest to see who will win....
This read is recommended for those that need to be cheered up or just need an easy read that will distract from the every day.

Review for How To Run With A Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #3) by Molly Harper

Caleb Graham is a werewolf by nature, a tracker by profession. He uses his “extra gifts” to find people, and not always in the most legal or ethical manner. He doesn’t care what they’ve done, or who wants them found, as long as his considerable fee is paid. He likes his life simple and uncomplicated.

Anna Moder, former physician to Caleb’s pack, happens across Caleb during a particularly violent “negotiation” that has left him bloodied and unconscious. She helps him, despite the fact that he’s cost her a car, so he insists that she stay with him on the road for a while. As they grow closer, Anna looks past the gruff exterior and and the questionable job to thoroughly decent werewolf underneath.

Anna – who is careful to edit her involvement with Caleb’s pack from their conversations – doesn’t talk about why a nice girl wants to live in the middle of frozen nowhere, but she’s obviously on the run from something. When Anna’s past collides with Caleb’s current assignment from one of his sleazier contacts, Caleb finally has to make a choice—protect his job…or his potential mate?

Another wonderful book by Molly Harper.  I really enjoy this series.  This is book #3 and it was highly anticipated.  Each and every one of the Naked Werewolf books has had me laughing out loud and on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen.

Anna Moder is on the run from a very bad person and meets Caleb a werewolf bounty hunter by mistake.  Sparks fly between the two and the craziness begins.

This is romance and humor at it's best and it's a must read just like the rest of the books in this series!  I cannot wait for the next one!

Review of The Curse Keepers by Denis Grove Swank

The wall between our world and that of vengeful spirits has protected humanity for more than 400 years. It’s about to come crashing down.

Ellie Lancaster has lived her whole life by the site of the mysterious Lost Colony of Roanoke, the Virginia settlement that vanished without a trace around 1590. Only the descendants of the two men who banished the spirits of an enemy tribe from the material realm know what really happened to the colony. Ellie is one of those descendants—a Curse Keeper. Her father took pains to teach her what he knew of the curse and the responsibilities of its guardians. He taught her that if the two Curse Keepers ever meet, the curse will be lifted, the gate will open, and the raging Native American spirits will be unleashed to seek their revenge.

Despite her father’s seriousness, Ellie has always taken the legend for a harmless fairy tale. Until she meets the darkly handsome, but downright infuriating, Collin Dailey and realizes everything she was told is true. For when they meet, it’s like the air is sucked from the room. Collin’s presence is electrifying… and it’s not just attraction Ellie feels, but the inexorable pull toward her destiny. The prophecy is real, and now Ellie and Collin must battle supernatural forces and their loathing—and passion—for each other to set things right.

The Curse Keepers are all that stand between the world and its destruction.

This is a really great beginning to a series.  I enjoyed this book immensely

Ellie is a young woman just coming into her own when things begin to unravel around her.  She's been told since she was a child that she is a part of an age old curse and that she and another person would break it and eventually try to save the world.

When Collin walks into the little diner that Ellie works at she is immediately attracted to him. so much so that she is breathless.  Her breathlessness overwhelms her, she knows what she is feeling is not your usual attraction and same goes for Collin.  They touch and all hell breaks loose.

The characters in this book are very well written and so it the story line.  I recommend you this this book if your enjoy paranormal, mystery, romance and thrills.
