Toni's Review of One Night Scandal by Christie Kelley ***4 Stars***

A Night With A Marquess

Born on the wrong side of the blanket, matchmaker Sophie Reynard understands the consequences of unbridled desire all too well. Despite the many highborn friends she has matched, falling in love with an aristocrat without a pedigree of her own would be an act of futility. But that doesn’t stop her from succumbing to one evening of anonymous passion…

A Lifetime Of Desire

Nicholas Tenbury, Marquess of Ancroft, knows nothing of Sophie’s lineage. He knows only that the enchanting beauty captured his heart in one night and then fled, leaving no trace of her identity. But when he seeks answers from London’s finest matchmaker, he finds none other than the woman herself-stubbornly refusing to acknowledge the attraction they share! Now the enamored Marquess has no choice but to sway Sophie with seduction…

Ok, I’m a teeny tiny perturbed!!! There is no indication that this is #5 in a series. Yes, this book can be read alone, but there are four books before this one that includes all the couples you read about in “One Night Scandal”. In fact, this book could very well be the last of the stories of the couples. Here is the list of other books:
Something Scandalous
Every Night I’m Yours
Every Time We Kiss
Scandal of the Season

That being said…I really liked this book. It kept me up all night long, well I did finally go to bed at 4:30am, but I could not put it down. I will likely read the other books by this author. This was a one sitting book.

If you are a stickler about history, language, customs and all that stuff you may not like this book. I don’t read historical romances for that. Yes, I do enjoy those types of books, by my focus is usually on the characters and storyline.

Sophie Reynard is a bastard, plain and simple. While she does not hide the fact, she does honor that stigma within society. She knows her place and she doesn’t push the situation. She is lonely though and wants to find her true love. She is a matchmaker that has helped all her friends find love and now she wants what they have found.

Nicholas Tenbury is the Marquess of Ancroft. He is a man above most men in society. He is a future duke who knows that his station in life requires him to find a wife and start a family. He will do his duty, but only on his terms. He wants love in his life, home and heart.

Sophie is a medium and sees her future husband and sees Nicholas. They share a steamy night of passion, but then Sophie loses her future visions when it comes to Nicholas. She runs away from him, leaving him to find a better future then a bastard for a wife. Nicholas can’t get Sophie out of his mind. She is all he ever thinks about and is determined to find her.

This story is about them finding each other and the obstacles they must hurdle to come together. The characters are fun to read about, the scenes are sexy and the story is well paced. This is a pleasant story to read, with no confusing mystery or suspense. It would be a lovely poolside/backyard read. Easy to put down and come back to, but you won’t want to. It grabbed a hold of me and wouldn’t let go.

Thanks for reading! - Toni

Toni's Review of Embrace the Night by Crystal Jordan ***5 Stars***

They’re the Magickal ones…vampires, werewolves, witches and fae who dwell among humans, united by extraordinary talents and unbridled sexual powers…

Chloe Standish went looking for a one-night stand to erase memories of her cheating ex-and found the hottest sex of her life. A witch and biochemist who’s working on a cure for werewolves, Chloe knows all about magic, yet Merek Kingston evoked a spellbinding lust beyond anything she’d ever felt. But now her ex-boyfriend and research partner is dead, his part of the formula in terrorists’ hands…and the detective in charge is Merek, the same man who’s haunted her dreams ever since their frenzied night together.

Chloe is the one person whose future Merek can’t predict…the only woman who could make him break every rule just to possess her again. Nothing will stop him from protecting her, and an explosive passion too primal, too perfect to forget…

Off the bat, I just want to say…This is NOT a love story that involves werewolves (note wolf on cover). There is a great werewolf in the story and there is love involved, but this is not a werewolf love story. Ok, now that has been said.

What a great story!! I loved the 2.5 main characters (I’ll explain later).

In this story there are Magickal ones…vampires, werewolves, witches and fae. While they are hidden from the Normals, that would be us, they are mainstream.

Chloe Standish is a woman with a heartbreaking past. While she has worked hard to become the strong independent woman she is today, she still has many scars. Merek Kingston is a man that still lives in the past. Not able to get over his past to move onto the future. When these two meet up for a one night stand, sparks fly literally.

Thrown back together months after their brief affair, they enjoy the passion they share for each other, but fight the future they could have together. They must work side-by-side to stay alive along with Chloe’s godson Alex (that is the 0.5). The three of them are fighting against the odds as the Magickal community seems to be all against them.

There is passion from the first page to the very last. While it is very hot passion, it was all held within context and delightfully done. Ms. Jordan knows how to write great scenes from sex to action all the way to interpersonal ones. She did a great job!

There is no great mystery, no real deep plot or surprise. Just a well told story of 3 people coming together to form a lifelong bond. It’s a great summer read that is not too light or too heavy. If you want to escape, grab this book!!

5 Stars for Kristine cheney's Spartan Hearts 2!!!!

Spartan Heart, Part Two

Sent away to college in America, Evangeline swore she would never return to England. Anger loses its value when tragedy forces her home to assume ownership of the family's beloved Greco-Roman museum.

Placing a foolish, drunken kiss on a Greek statue in the museum's basement, Evangeline unknowingly frees a Spartan prince from an evil oracle's curse. Suddenly, her lonely life is invaded by the rakish man with knowing emerald green eyes who never eats or sleeps, and seems to know her every thought and feeling.

Falling in love is dangerous, especially when it's with a man who has already been claimed by the bitter oracle, Demona. From the moment of her kiss, Evangeline is swept into Dorien's world of mystery, danger, and passion. The oracle's fury only mounts as they unravel Demona's darkest secrets, but not before Demona finds out about their unborn half-breed immortal twins.

Demona uses her knowledge of the future to manipulate and destroy, but sometimes love has a will, and a heart, of its own.

I just can't say enough about this series!  I love it!  Also, I can't wait for the next book.  Spartan Heart 2 is a continuation of Spartan Heart 1 which was also an awesome book.
I just couldn't put it down.  From believable characters to action packed scenes this read kept me up late into the night with wanting to know what would happen next.  Evangeline is pregnant with twins and her belly is growing rapidly.  Spartan Dorien who was once cursed into being a statue is very concerned about his family's safety.  He once made a deal with Demona (wicked witch) for the safe keeping of his family. A few new characters pop up in this book and they are impressive.  I can't wait to read more about each of them.   You have to read this book!  There's many twists and turns and it's action packed.
After reading book #1 I raced onto Amazon.com to buy #2 and believe me.... I am a very frugal buyer but this book was sooooo worth the money I spent.  This series is going on my bookshelf right along side my Laurell K. Hamilton, Maggie Shayne and Christine Feehan books!
This series is a "Ya Gotta Read it to Believe it" Series!!!

Toni's Review of If He's Dangerous by Hannah Howell ***3.5 Stars***

Hannah Howell's extraordinary Wherlocke family returns with the story of a passion that will heed no resistance, no matter how deadly. . .

When Lorelei Sundun first finds Sir Argus Wherlocke in her garden, she's never heard of the mysterious Wherlocke clan—or their otherworldly abilities. That changes the moment she watches Argus—the most tantalizing man she's ever seen—disappear before her very eyes. What she's witnessed should be impossible. But so should falling in love with a man she's only just met. . .

Pursued by a madman intent on harnessing the Wherlockes' talents as weapons, Argus meant to seek help from his family, not to involve a duke's lovely daughter in the struggle. But now, the enchanting Lorelei is his only hope for salvation—and the greatest temptation he's ever faced. .

If He’s Dangerous is the fourth book in the Wherlock Series. The Wherlock’s are a family with many gifts and secrets and pasts they don’t wish to relive.

Where do I start??? Do I love the book? No. Do I like it? Yes. Something was just off for me. I think I expected Argus Wherlocke’s story to be….well something more. In the prior books he was such a strong character. I did not feel his strength in this novel. Yes, there were circumstances that would take away some of that strength, but still it just didn’t do it for me. I had higher hopes for Argus and maybe that was my problem. I loved Argus in prior books and I wanted to really love him in his book.

The heroine was Lorelei Sundun, a daughter of a Duke. She was a lovely lady. Very strong and open minded, something Argus needs, but doesn’t recognize. He knows he wants her, but doesn’t believe he deserves her. Lorelei is from a wonderful family and has an amazing father. She is a well balanced woman, perfect for Argus.

I enjoyed the read, but it was slow. The characters were well written, but the storyline didn’t really grab me. I had no problem finishing it, but would it have kept me up all night? No. That for me is a given for a great book.

Even the villain in this book was lackluster. Argus deserved a stronger adversary. No real mystery in the book.

I’m not sure who or if there will be another book. Most indications from book sites is that the Wherlock Series was to be a trilogy. I do hope that Ms. Howell continues with this wonderful family. While “If He’s Dangerous” was not my favorite novel in the series I would still recommend reading it.

Thanks for reading! - Toni

Toni's Review of The Heir by Grace Burrowes ***5 Stars***

Gayle Windham, Earl of Westhaven, is the first legitimate son and heir to the Duke of Moreland. To escape his father's inexorable pressure to marry, he decides to spend the summer at his townhouse in London, where he finds himself intrigued by the secretive ways of his beautiful housekeeper...

Anna Seaton is a beautiful, talented, educated woman, which is why it is so puzzling to Gayle Windham that she works as his housekeeper.

As the two draw closer and begin to lose their hearts to each other, Anna's secrets threaten to bring the earl's orderly life crashing down - and he doesn't know how he's going to protect her from the fallout...

What can I say about “The Heir” that hasn’t been already said?? While it follows along the same line as most historical romances, it had wonderful differences too.

The hero was a rogue bachelor. Big surprise there! Not too many historicals don’t have handsome, antisocial men (because we just eat them up). Gayle Windham had wonderful qualities. He loves his family - an amazing caregiver for them, strong willed, loyal, funny, oh I could go on and on…His goal in life – take care of his family, eventually become Duke and never ever marry…until he meets his headstrong lovely housekeeper.

The heroine, Anna Seaton, is a woman with a hidden past. She is Lord Windham’s housekeeper. She does an amazing job, keeps a tight ship, and is refined and thorough with her care for the Earl. She has secrets…and nothing is going to keep her from keeping them. Not even a gorgeous infuriating Earl.

“The Heir” is an easy read. You fall in love with Gayle and Anna, but you also fall for all the supporting characters. The Grace does a great job weaving them into the story. I finished the book wanting to know what was going to happen next with every one of them.

Future novels of the Windham brothers include “The Soldier” coming out next June 7, 2011. Followed by “The Virtuoso” on November 1, 2011. Also planned for the Windham family are the stories of the two sisters – Sophie and Maggie. “Lady Sophie’s Christmas Wish” – scheduled to be released later in the year and "Lady Maggie's Little Secret" is still to be determined.

I highly recommend “The Heir”. I couldn’t put it down. I laughed at the shenanigans of the Duke and the Earl’s brothers and wanted to shake both Gayle and Anna at times. While the ending did drag out for me (I wanted them to get it together, like NOW), I still enjoyed the storyline. I am looking very forward to the next story of the Windham brothers.

Thanks for reading! - Toni

***5** Stars for Kristine Cheney's Spartan Heart 1

Spartan Heart, Part One by Kristine Cheney

Demona uses her knowledge of the future to manipulate and destroy, but sometimes love has a will, and a heart, of its own

Dorien was trapped in a statue by an evil witch called Demona.  One evening Evangeline who is distraught finds the statue and is immediately attracted to it, in a fit of delirium she kisses it and Dorien is released from the curse.  Evangeline and Dorien fall in love, but there is so much more to the story then just that.  Read it to find out!
This book is tantalizing and enthralling.  The beginning is emotional and fills you with the same emotion that you are reading.  You know it's great writing when you feel what the character is feeling.  I like the characters and their personalities, at first Evangeline is timid but not submissive and she later gets more brazen.  Dorien is Alpha but so so sweet.  I cannot wait for you to discover these characters!  The secondary characters are also awesome!
The story will captivate you and make you want to continue reading until the very end and even when you hit the end it will not be enough!
This book is a must buy!  I loved it so much that I raced to Amazon to buy Spartan Hearts 2!!!

5 Stars for Marilyn Baron's "A Choir of Angels"

A Choir of Angels

A heartwarming supernatural tale of a family’s tragedy and a wedding promise unfulfilled. How far will a mother go to sing at her daughter’s wedding? Nothing, not even a little thing like death, is going to cheat Rhonda Paver out of celebrating the happiest day of her daughter’s life. Even if she has to cross over to the other side to do it.

This story warms the heart and make you laugh, though it is short it's worth reading.  A wonderful mother who will do anything for her child, Rhonda makes sure to be there to help her daughter choose a wedding dress and sing at her daughter's wedding.  There is the perfect amount of humour and sadness.  One minute you are smiling and the next your heart is heavy.  For such a short story the emotions it incites is amazing.  "A Choir of Angels" is truly worth reading, all components of a great read are there and it will leave you smiling.

Enjoying the show by Marie Harte!!! 5 STARS!!!

Enjoying the Show

Hailey Jennison is smart, funny and, unfortunately, stacked like a blonde brick house. She’s well aware the impact her looks have on the male gender, and she hates it. Socially awkward, she keeps to a safe, boring routine, meeting friends once a week for dinner, some laughs, and entertainment.

Entertainment comes in the form of a little harmless voyeurism, watching the living, breathing sex god across the quad parade around his apartment half-naked. Hailey watches and yearns, indulging in this weekly fantasy that almost—but not quite—satisfies her every desire.

When Gage catches Hailey in the act of ogling him, he gives her a choice—go out with him, or he’ll call the cops. But he has no intention of calling the law down on every man’s wet dream. For he’s been watching her, as well. And he has plans to fulfill her naughty fantasies.

The Blurb explains the book pretty well but what it doesn't say is:
I loved this book! It was funny and charming. Witty and heart warming. But most of all is was HOT HOT HOT!!! Wow! this book is sure to get any woman's juices flowing! Do not miss out on such a great read!!! I read it late into the night because I just could not put it down. It's a great  with lots of quips and genuine characters.  If you want a make you smile and get hot book this is the one! It was a hoot to read it!

A 5 Star Book Review for Trinity (The Brethren Series) by Deena Remiel

Trinity (The Brethren Series)

One way or another, terror will reign tonight...

School teacher and single mom, Emma Livingston, has been through hell—and back so she thinks. While dealing with the night terrors and active imagination of her five-year old daughter, Hannah, she attempts to lead a normal life. That is, until the demon from those nightmares pays her a visit, too, and threatens both of their lives. Desperate, she reaches out for help—and finds Michael waiting.

Michael D’Angelo is known to everyone in Prophet’s Point, Arizona, as their loving elementary school principal. But to The Brethren, he is the most powerful Protector. Immortal and angelic does not mean he’s without doubts or fears, as protecting Emma and Hannah from Evil tests his ability to fight his tortured past.

As the Trinity is formed, ancient secrets are revealed and faith is tested. When a prophecy is exposed, Hannah becomes the main target and Emma wonders if a normal life will ever be possible again. Hope is like an anchor, but can a mother, her daughter, and an angel overcome the evil determined to annihilate the world?

Hannah a 6 year old girl is being harassed in her dreams.  Emma who is Hannah's mother is a her wits end on what to do for her daughter.  Lack of sleep and the stress about Hannah's nightmares are taking it's toll on Emma.  When she begins to think she's seeing things she turns to her friend Michael.  After telling Michael all that has been happened to her daughter Michael decides to help them.  Michael is part of a group of Angels that are sworn to protect the good and innocent from Evil. They are called The Brethren.... Michael, Emma and Hannah will be fighting evil with the help of some friends... The war ensues and keeps you on your toes with spine tingling action and wonderment. What will happen? Will Good triumph over evil?  Read and find out!
I really enjoyed this book because it makes you want to know what is going to happen next. It's a real page turner. From page one it grabs you and holds on.  There's mystery, magic, action and divine inspiration.
Michael makes me want to believe in Angels and Hannah is such a delightful child that is believable.  Emma is the protective mother who makes the story sweet with her protectiveness and endearing qualities. The book is easy to follow along with and makes for a great read.
I would recommend this book to any readers out there.  It sucks you in and keeps you reading late into the night like any fantastic book should do!  This Book is now in my KEEP pile!

Pale Demon by Kim Harrison Review

Pale Demon

Condemned to death for black magic and shunned, Rachel Morgan has three days to somehow get to the annual witches convention in San Francisco and clear her name. If she fails, the only way she can escape death is to live in the demonic ever after . . . for ever after.

Banned from the flight lists, Rachel teams up with elven tycoon Trent Kalamack, headed for the West Coast for his own mysterious business. But Rachel isn’t the only passanger along for the ride. Can a witch, an elf, a living vampire, and a pixy in one car survive for over 2,300 miles? And that’s not counting the assassin on their tail.

A fearsome demon walks the sunlight, freed after centuries of torment to slay the innocent and devour souls. But his ultimate prey is Rachel Morgan. While the powerful witch with nerves of steel will do whatever it takes to stay alive, even embracing her own demonic nature may not be enough to save her.

Rachel was in a heap of trouble with the white witches, it's time to go for her trial. She needs to get there first. Lots of adventure and action. Rachel has to fight her way to the trial with the help of her friends. I loved this book! There was so much action never a dull moment! It had everything from magic, demons, fairies and natural disasters. Just wow! If you buy this book you will not be disappointed. Kim Harrison you have outdone yourself with this book! Bravo!!!

Make up Recommendations and how to use!

This is a Primer for your eyelids, it is used to ready your eyelids for eye-shadow. Just like a painter it's best to prime your canvas so that the colours stay on well, are bright and so the colour doesn't crease.  To apply you just take out the wand and apply a little to your eyelid and then take your finger and spread the lotion across the bottom and top of your eyelid until it is all covered.  Then your ready for some eye-shadow!

Here is a great eye-shadow palette.  It has lots of beautiful colours that you can mix and match.  It's pretty much a do all-in-one.  For most this one palette would be enough to make your whole eye-shadow collection.  There are so many looks that can be done with eye=shadow.  Just try anything!  Experiment! Don't be scared to make a mistake because it can be washed off!  In makeup there are no rules!

I'd like to recommend this Cheek highlighter to those ladies who like a nice shine that makes you look Dewey.  It gives a great highlight and makes your skin look refreshed and healthy.  You apply this to the apples of your cheeks and sweeping it up towards the temple and hairline... A little goes a long way with this...

So these are my recommendations for today!  Hope you enjoy them!

Author Debra Webbs and her New Start "DIRTY"

The author of this book Debra Webb is such a special lady and author. Last July Debra was in an accident and was very hurt. She lost the use of her Right arm and hand.  You can imagine how devastating that had to be for her because it was her writing hand.  With courage and determination she has forged through her disability and has written this book.  To Quote Brenda Webbs "This feels like a new beginning with all kinds of potential!"

Dirty by Debra Webb

Mystery/Thriller Romance

Jackie Mercer is a 45 year old Knock-out Private investigator/Bondsman.  She's Sassy and Sexed up.
She has taken over her Uncle's business "Mercer Detective Agency". She's in need of a partner since her uncle has retired.  In comes Ex-cop and heart throb Mr. Derrick Dawson.  A mystery turns up for them to investigate and it stirs up lots of trouble.  Will they find out the truth before it's too late?  Well you're going to have to read it to find out!

Though Jackie knows she's hot she has some self-esteem issues and at her age she enjoys a good romp like any other woman.  I feel many of us can relate to this character.  She smart and not scared to say what needs to be said.  Jackie is a woman after my own heart.
My Favourite quote from the book is "I'm a Private Investigator who does a little bounty hunting on the side. And your ass is mine, Darling".  That sass added to the class she has, well it made for a great read.
The action continues throughout the book with barely a boring moment. The book kept me guessing all the way through and I was happily surprised by the ending.  If your looking for a great read then this is a perfect book for you!

"How to Date A Werewolf" Review

"How to Date A Werewolf"
Rose Pressey

Riley is a werewolf who owns Mate Dating Service and she is more than happy to step in and lend a hand to lonely lycanthropic hearts all over town.  Riley is a no nonsense girl with a pension for disaster.  Rylie is convinced she is out of luck for love herself due to a family curse that affects only her but when she meets Jack Chandler she is really hoping this curse will end.
There is an instant attraction between Riley and Jack, you can feel the sparks fly when they look into each others eyes.
I loved how Riley seemed to stay pretty well unconcerned by the disasters that kept happening to her. The messes that happen are pretty funny and the fact that she cries a purse filled with razors and shaving cream well the book will keep you giggling throughout. It will also keep you guessing about who is responsible for all the craziness.
Riley has a best friend and roomate called Lily and she is very funny and adds alot of spice to the book and makes things a little harder for Riley to handle but it's all because she cares and is trying to help.  I know if I had such a helpful roomate I'd move. LOL
If I could have changed just one thing in this book I would have put just one hot and heavy makeout scene ;) But that's just me and the gutter brain talking. :D
If you want a FUN, Adventurous, Laugh Riot of a Book!  Then this is the book for you.
I Honestly enjoyed it from beginning to end and I recommend it whole heartedly if your in need of a uplifting and fun read.
