Author Street Team!!!!!

2   [swag]  Show IPA,noun, verb, swagged, swag·ging.
Slang .
plunder; booty.
money; valuables.

I am a total swag collector... I adore going to the mail only to find little gifts from Authors all around the world.  Romance Trading Cards, Bookmarks, Post Cards and much more.

I'm very lucky that I know several authors and I enter a lot of book giveaways.
I recently joined several groups and in one of them a wonderful lady and fan of Deena Remiel  suggested that we get together and become a Street Team for one of our favourite Authors.  Of course, I said yes right away!  Having agreed to go to my local library or local book stores and drop off some of this swag I thought to myself... Why not ask some more of my Author friends if they'd like to send me some of their swag and I could do the same for them.
Brethren Beginnings Volume 1
That's how I ended up with a big pile of swag to give out locally :D I was so excited to get out there and make people's day like the Authors often do for me.  With a bag full of  awesome swag I went to visit people.  I stopped in at the Farmer' market, local book store and to our one and only library.
I handed out a lot of stuff and unfortunately no one would allow me to take their picture for my web post, except for one of the wonderful Librarians.  They were all so excited that they left their posts to "OoH" and "Ahhh"  over the bookmarks, trading cards and post cards.  I had a special treat for each of them, signed bookmarks!
I enjoyed today so much!  I helped many authors, made quite a few people's day and got lots of exercise lol
I hope I get to continue doing this because I loved it!
A huge Thank you to all the Authors who sent me swag so that I was able to share the love!
Until next time ;)

Please Welcome Author Pamela V. Mason!!!

Hi Leanne and Everybody!

Thank you for the opportunity to write about my passions for interior decorating and writing romance here on Books Read 'N' Makeup Done. I can't wait to post yours about makeup on my WriterMason blog!

Let me introduce myself: I’m Pamela V. Mason – not to be confused with the late James Mason’s actress/director wife Pamela Mason, hence the ‘V’. I am a native of New Orleans,LA – the part that Katrina tried to take out oh, six years ago this Tuesday. My own childhood home of screen doors and chandeliers still stands, but many old neighbors’ homes are slabs now.

My father designed and built our home there. Upstairs the cedar closet held my father’s satin King of Pegasus costume with his crown, and we had a crystal chandelier that sparkled with rainbows. The guest room closet held a secret passageway to the attic where George, our ghost, resided.
Mardi Gras parades went past our cypress double front doors. When Hurricane Betsy blew through, our neighbors came upstairs to wait on their husbands to return with their boats, which floated through those doors and docked at the stairs to take their families to safety.
Can you see why I’m a former interior designer… now turned writer?

Creating my own romantic worlds, framing them with plots that turn like a twisty staircase, and populating them with smart people who make stupid choices for all the right reasons... and a sexy love scene in a luxurious bedroom just adds to the fun!
I created DesignWrite to further indulge my love for interiors and integrate that passion with my passion for romance. Sometimes I write posts that show how our characters’ settings -  a rural outpost, a metropolitan city, a homey bakery on a small town’s main street – dictate and inform our heroes’ and heroines’ choices.

Other times I post about repurposing the space you already have to create workspace for your passions- crafting, writing, or makeup! Use that sunny beautiful dining room that only sees action a few times a year, or fashion for yourself a proper worktable with sawhorses and cube storage. A vision board from a thrifted empty frame and chicken wire or cork can keep you organized and inspired! And yes, you CAN coordinate that ugly secretarial chair with the rest of your home’s décor – visit my blog and find out!

What are your passions? How do they define you? Our passions define us – they set us apart and make us unique. Say hello in the comments and tell us yours!

5 Stars for Katherine Irons Oceanborne (Available Sept.27, 2011)

Underwater archaeologist Elena Carter has always loved the sea. But when she pulls a handsome stranger from the water in the midst of a storm, she realizes there is much she still has to learn. Taking shelter from the tempest, they experience pleasure different from any she has felt before. Then the stranger, her intoxicating Prince Orion, disappears, leaving only an ancient artefact. Reluctantly returning to her land bound life, Elena finds more pieces to a puzzle that baffles her even as it hints at greater discoveries yet to be made. Who - or what - is Orion? And once she has known the touch of the sea, can Elena return to the world she left behind?

Elena is tenacious in her want to discover and protect the history that is found in the sea.  Determined to check on her latest discovery she ventures out in a storm on raft.  While out there a man is drowning and she saves him.  Prince Orion wasn't drowning he is as much part of the sea and the salt.  He was fighting a losing battle against dark creatures.
Together they embark on many adventures and Elena is going to discover a whole new world, the question is does she really want to be a part of it or is it all a dream.

This book is amazing!  It's different and extremely imaginative.  Your carried away to a new world with so much to discover.  The characters are believable and the descriptions took my breath away.
I had a lot of fun reading this book I was taken to a great new world right away, it kept me distracted from everything.
I recommend you read this book if your looking for something new and out of this world!

Review for Slow Burn by EB Walters 4 STARS!

Slow Burn

She doesn’t want to deal with the past….

Ten years ago, Ashley Fitzgerald witnessed the death of her parents in a tragic fire and her mind blocked the memory. She pretends to have moved on, is a successful artist and photographer, until she opens her door to a stranger, assumes he’s a model and asks him to strip to his briefs.

He plans to expose the truth…

Wealthy businessman Ron Noble has the body, the jet, the fast cars and the women, but he hides a deadly secret. His father started the fire that killed Ashley’s parents. Now someone is leaving him clues that could exonerate his father and they lead to Ashley’s door. Blindsided by the blazing attraction between them and a merciless killer silencing anyone who was there the night of the fire, Ron can’t dare tell Ashley the truth. Yet the answer he seeks may very well tear them apart.

While a demented arsonist lots his ultimate revenge...

Ashley is having nightmares that are causing her to be distracted, she thinks the only way she'll be able to overcome it is by buying the building that is the cause of her disturbing dreams.  She is approached by Ron Noble who is investigating the fire of the past, she refuses to help him.
Ashley gets an appointment with the owner of the building, when she arrives it is not the owner but her son who is there to meet her Ron.
Things happen and they band together to find out what really happened all those years ago.  Together to find the truth and together forever?

I found EB Walter's writing to be exquisite, there's just enough description that the book didn't become cluttered with it.  The characters are well written and your able to understand what they are feeling throughout the book.  Ashley is being haunted by the past and wants to get to the truth but first she must bring the memories back, you can feel her frustration of not knowing what happened.  Ron wants to know the truth as well and his frustration is palpable.
I enjoyed this book, it' got a great mystery plot, action and romance.  This book pulled me in and kept me entertained for hours.  I highly recommend that people give it a chance.  Not only is the cover HOT, so is the book!

Toni's Review of The Bad Always Die Twice ***3.5 Stars***

In the first of a wildly entertaining mystery series set amid the bright lights, big egos, and Botoxed brows of Hollywood, Cheryl Crane—daughter of legendary movie star Lana Turner—introduces a smart, hilarious, and utterly loveable heroine in realtor-turned-amateur sleuth, Nikki Harper.

For Nikki Harper, realtor to the stars and daughter of 1950s screen goddess Victoria Bordeaux, Hollywood is home. A completely dysfunctional home populated by a cast of crazies, true, but home nonetheless. While Nikki's no stranger to scandal, she's shocked to receive a hysterical phone call from her business partner, Jessica Martin, saying that TV has-been Rex March has been found dead in Jessica's bed.

More shocking than Rex's death is the fact that, as far as anyone knew, Rex was already dead. Six months ago, the star of the seventies sitcom Shipwrecked Vacation was supposedly killed when his plane crashed in the Mojave Desert. Nikki and Jessica recently sold his mansion on behalf of his widow, Edith. It's obvious to Nikki that Jessica is being framed, but by whom? And why? And how on earth can Rex be dead a second time?

In search of answers, Nikki turns to the one person she can always count on. From her pink boudoir in her Beverly Hills mansion, the ever-glamorous Victoria suggests Nikki focus her sleuthing on Rex's not-so-grieving widow. And there's a veritable casting couch full of other candidates, including Edith's boy-toy lover, Rex's scheming lawyer (like there's any other kind), and the diner waitress with whom Rex was having one of his numerous affairs. But with the killer readying for a repeat performance, Nikki will have to act fast—before her own screen fades to black. . .

Mystery is normally not my normal read, but I thought I would dip my toes into the water anyways. I was very pleasantly surprised! While mystery will not likely be my favorite genre, I did enjoy The Bad Always Die Twice. With every page I had a new suspect in my head and Ms. Crane kept me guessing all the way up to the end.

Not too many people missed Rex March when he died the first time around and even less the second time. He was a philanderer and the world basically said good riddance. He was a one hit wonder who was living off an old 1970’s family comedy. Ego is the only thing Rex had and he had that in abundance. His first death was ruled as a freak accident, but his second was murder. It’s up to Nikki Harper to figure out who did it, because she knows her friend Jessica sure didn’t do it.

Nikki is the daughter of the fifties screen goddess, actress Victoria Bordeaux. Always in her mother shadow, Nikki is just fine with that and enjoys her life as a real estate agent to the stars. Being the daughter of the actress does have its perks though and sales are one of them.

Jessica Martin is a known man eater. She is a love them and use them type, not a murderer. So when Jessica comes home after a daylong real estate seminar and finds Rex, dead in her bed, she calls her best friend Nikki for support and help.

Suspects are endless; Edith March – the wife, Thompson Christopher - the wife’s new boy toy, Alex Ramirez - the slimy lawyer, Tiffany Mathews - the young jilted lover and countless others. Nikki has her hands full discovering the truth.

The Bad Always Die Twice is a well written mystery. Ms. Crane will keep you guessing and I enjoyed how she intertwined current events and celebrities into her story. I’m not sure if it was Ms. Crane’s intention, but the constant noting of product name dropping, stood out to me. It said to me that L.A. was extremely materialistic and in the end almost was a subplot all its own.

I really enjoyed the interaction between Nikki and her mother, Victoria. She made Victoria a real person to me. While Victoria was all glimmer and glamour, I relished in her human side. I had several laugh out loud moments with her antics. I can see myself continuing to read about Nikki’s adventures just to see what her mother is up to.

The Bad Always Die Twice is a decadent decent into the underbelly of glamorous Hollywood. Gossip is never ending and secrets never stay hidden for long. So grab a drink and put on your Jimmy Choos, because you want to be styling when you step into Ms. Crane’s world.

Thanks for reading - Toni

How about a laugh?

A couple of weeks ago my brother set up a camera in his office.

It's setup to take successive pictures when it captures motion

within the room.

My brother went out of town with his wife and son.

My Sister-In-law thought my brother was a bit obsessive over

checking the camera's images via the net.  She hatched up a

brilliant plan to try and teach my brother a lesson!

She called her parents and had them go into the house and

pretend to steal stuff from my brother's office LOL  Here's what

my brother found when he looked at what his camera captured.

By this time my brother Devon is hopping mad, he calls out to

his wife that she has got to see the pictures and that they have to

call the cops right away.  He had only looked at 2 pictures when

he went nuts on everyone.  Had he continued to look he would

have found this.

His in-laws having a great time laughing and knowing the pulled

off the joke of the year!  Here is my brother's explaination on

Ok, a little context for this album. I recently set up a secruity camera in the office of my house. It's setup to take successive pictures when it captures motion within the room. I'm currently in Moncton after just setting up the camera and I can view it remotely from outside the house. So anyway, I'm in Moncton, doing vacation stuff with the kids and I sit down to relax and have a drink and I casually check my dropbox to see if any pictures show up from my camera. Generally it's just pics of my cat Shadow and little changes in light. So all of a sudden, I click on a random picture in the box and I see two people in nylon and jumpsuits and I go ape shit. I starting yelling to Gisele, "Holy shit, someone is in our house stealing our shit." I was pretty much going postal. So after about 5 minutes I tell them I'm going to call the cops. I literally only looked at two pictures. Before I can dial my wife tells me to stop!! It's her parents, lol!!! Gisele called them up and told them I've been staring obsessively at my camera and wanted to play a trick on me. So they dressed up, came in the house and starting grabing random stuff. If I had paid attention, I would have seen that the stuff they were taking, (chair, CD's, a stapler), and then one of them starts doing weights, I would have realized it was a joke. Man, they got me good on this one. Enjoy the pictures lol.

The greatest joke of the year was pulled off!  Way to go and Congrats to my Sister-in-law!  I love it!  It was better then the joke my Hubby pulled on my brother just a few weeks before but that is a story for another day.
Hope you all enjoyed and don't be shy to leave my brother a comment he's still laughing it off and kicking himself hahahaha

I'd like to introduce the wonderful Author Debra Webb!
I've had the pleasure of reading this great book and here is your chance!

Have you read a book that you wish would be made into a movie? It happens and sometimes it’s great fun to see the story play out on the screen (as long as they get the characters and the story right!). My summer release, DIRTY, is one I would love to see as a movie for reasons beyond the expected (money, career affirmation). I waited years for the opportunity to see DIRTY published. No matter how much time passed, I remained certain that the story and the protagonist were worthy of publication.

When I first wrote DIRTY I had buzzed past the 45 mark and I was annoyed that women just weren’t viewed the same way as men of the same age. Was that mid-forty mark the true indication of being WAY over the hill? Old? Done? I refused to believe that then and, seven years later, I refuse to believe it now. So I forged onward with self-publishing DIRTY, the debut novel of the Jackie Mercer series. I won’t bore you with all the reasons why I think you’d like the story and Jackie and Dawson (who is scorching hot!). I decided instead to give every wonderful person who leaves a comment a digital copy of DIRTY and you can judge for yourself.
Side note: I do hope you love it!!!!!!

Back to the movies, tell me what book you would love to see made into a movie. Anyone you’d like to see play the main characters. For DIRTY, I would love to see Teri Hatcher play Jackie. I think she could play the determined Texas woman and mother who won’t let anything get in her way.
Yet, beneath that sexy, sassy exterior would be that I-can-get-into-some-of-the-craziest-fixes vulnerability. And, fyi, Jackie is a brunette, you’ll get the scoop on why she’s blonde on the cover when you read the story! I don’t know the identity of the guy in the pic, but he could definitely play Dawson! Yummy!

Please Welcome Author Lisa Kessler!!!

Hi everyone –

Thanks to Leanne for giving me and my new novel, Night Walker, a spot on her beautiful blog today!

I met Leanne on Facebook, in a book group. Not only is she fun and intelligent, but this girl loves books! I’m so glad we met, and not only has she pointed out some great books, she also posts fun make-up tips too. J

But I never would have known any of that if it weren’t for social media. As a debut author, I wonder how many people would have heard about my book if it weren’t for facebook and twitter and amazing book bloggers?

Social media has not only made our world smaller, it has also brought readers and authors together.  As book stores close, online book groups and book bloggers become even more important to bring attention to new books and new authors.  Without them, it’s tough for a book to gain exposure in the crowded online marketplace.

In Night Walker, my hero, Calisto, is an over 200 year old immortal who doesn’t like cars or computers.  So he had to find his one love when she was reincarnated the old fashioned way, in a dark courtyard on the evening of Dia de los Muertos. J

Kate watched them wander off before kneeling closer to the cross. Unable to stop herself, she traced her finger along the T in the center.

Behind her, someone cleared his throat. Kate jerked her hand away and shot to her feet. When she turned around she found a tall, dark-haired man staring at her.

Her cheeks flushed with heat. She hoped he hadn’t witnessed her touching the relic. She waited for some kind of admonishment, but he didn’t say anything.

Not with words.

Something in his dark eyes captured her. His gaze wandered over her face like a tender caress, and strangely, instead of screaming for Lori and Edie, she caught herself imagining his touch on her skin.

“I hope I did not frighten you,” he said.

His deep voice resonated through the empty courtyard, and the intimate tone weakened her knees. The hint of a Spanish accent didn’t hurt, either. Nervous laughter escaped her before she could contain it.

Her face warmed all over again. “Just a little startled. I didn’t see anyone else out here.”

He stepped closer without encroaching on her personal space, his eyes locked with hers from beneath thick lashes. “Forgive me.”

She swallowed hard and prayed she wasn’t blushing. “No problem.” She looked away before she embarrassed herself even further, focusing on the cross. “It’s beautiful isn’t it?”

“Si.” He nodded slowly. “Yes, it is.” His barely there smile made her think he wasn’t referring to the flowers or the cross. “I am Calisto. Calisto Terana.”

Expectation hung as heavy as the scent of eucalyptus, as if he waited to hear something more than just her name.

“I’m Kate.” Instead of offering to shake his hand, she tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. “It’s nice to meet you.”

“The honor is mine, Kate... ” His accent colored the vowel in her name. It had never sounded more beautiful. She reminded herself to breathe.

When he hesitated for a moment waiting for her to speak, she realized she hadn’t shared her last name as he had. She flipped through a rapid pro and con mental checklist, and decided it couldn’t hurt. Maybe they would meet again.

“Bradley,” she said.

A sexy smile curved at the corners of his lips. “I hope this will not be our last meeting.”

She glanced around the shadowed courtyard, feeling vulnerable, and almost gave in to her first instinct—to run. But she remembered her promise to herself. Be strong. Take action. She lifted her chin and said, “I guess you never know.”

With a smile that said he had every intention of seeing her again, he tipped his head. “Buenos noches, Kate Bradley.”

Her heart raced and her palms sweated when she realized he meant to leave. No man made her palms sweat. Ever.

His gaze held hers for a moment, full of unspoken promises she didn’t understand. Without another word, he walked away.

Thanks again to Leanne for inviting me here today!

So what do you think about social media?  Is it a great way to meet people, or are you like Calisto and enjoy meeting someone the old fashioned way?

I’m very chatty online, so feel free to connect! J

I am proud to announce that
is hosting "The Gift" 's release party!
Please Welcome Author Kat Deacon!!!!

Hey everybody! My name is Kat Deacon and welcome to Leanne’s wonderful blog and my release party for THE GIFT!! I’m both excited and terrified that my novella is out floating around in the world. I’ve dreamed of being a writer my whole life…well that is after my mom explained that it was impossible to be Wonder Woman. Alas, no lasso of truth or invisible jet in my future, but that didn’t stop me from imagining a world where I could have those things and more.

My love of writing grew from a passion for books. My mom used to take us to the library several days out of the week. For one…she loved reading. For two…it was a great inexpensive way to entertain three kids. Her closet was filled with romance novels. I used to hide in there and read. I was fascinated by the fantasy and historical romances. Tales of true love and happy endings… they made me want to write stories like that. I remember crying over a particularly moving scene and my mom opening up the closet door and finding me there surrounded by her books. She smiled and shook her head and said “It’s really good isn’t it?”

I never gave up on writing. Through marriage, kids, and now going back to college, I’m still writing. I think those of us who love writing have to jot things down or risk going crazy sometimes. Those feelings you get when you’re reading an exciting or moving book and you just have to know what happens next are what makes me want to be a writer. I’m still learning and trying to get everything just right but, here I am with my first release. It is terrifying and wonderful all at once.

I hope you enjoy my novella about a girl discovering who she is and finding her confidence. She has two great friends that I think you will love as well…and I can’t forget to mention the deliciously hot guy that she’s totally crushing on. Here’s a blurb for THE GIFT.

All Seri Graham wanted for her sixteen birthday was a date for junior prom and a car. Not much...right? Seri goes from mall shopping and chick flicks to demon smiting and meeting her Gregorian Watcher mother for the first time.

A mysterious gift arrives from her absentee mother and Seri's life is forever altered. Along with her two besties Maya and Lucy, using the gift from her mother, Seri tries to survive long enough to discover who and what she is and make to the prom.
