How Do Immortals Keep The Flame of Love Alive?
Trinity (The Brethren Series)
At first glance, you might think Immortals have it made. They get to live forever free of disease, free of long-lasting pain, and free to roam over the earth, experiencing all there is to this great world of ours. Yeah, that sounds really great…BUT…
When you are an immortal who is married, “till death do us part” takes on an ominous tone. Since there is no death, Immortals are married FOREVER. So how do they keep their love alive? How do they keep boredom at bay? Since neither my husband or I are immortal, I spoke with a married couple who are, and they gave me some great advice on how to keep the spark continually igniting. I've compiled my notes and I present to you now their Immortal Couple's Advice to Long-Lasting Passion:

Our Immortal couple: Emma and Michael D'Angelo
Suggestion Number 1:Call each other on the cell phone, unexpectedly, just to say hello and I love you. Constantly change the time of the call so your partner cannot predict when it will happen. It enhances the element of surprise and the warm, happy feelings of your partner. You can also leave love notes in their pants pocket or wallet, on the toilet seat, or even in the mist on the mirror in the bathroom.

Suggestion Number 2: Take dance lessons together. There's nothing sexier than being held closely during a latin dance. Your bodies are so close or touching in all the right spots. You won't want to stop. In fact, you'll want to dance all the way to your bedroom!

Suggestion Number 3: Make sure you have a Date Night at least twice a month. Immortals can be parents as well, and it's hard to find time to be alone together for an extended period of time. If you've got an extended family, or network of friends, use them to watch the kids. Then take turns. It saves money on babysitting. If you can, have the kids sleep over somewhere. Then you get the whole house to yourselves to do... well, whatever turns you on!

Suggestion Number 4: Don't just eat your food, play with it! There is nothing that kindles the slow burn of passion like food. Chocolate syrup and whipped cream are two staples in the D'Angelo household. It's not just for ice cream anymore! They suggest buying paint brushes so that on special Date Nights, you can do art projects on each other's bodies. Then you can "clean up" afterwards. Find out what your
Immortal partner's favorite foods are and feast together. Feed each other. Taste each other's food... and each other!

As you can see, there are many ways to keep the fires burning bright, even throughout eternity. Do you have some suggestions for Immortal couples? I'd love to add them to the list. Just comment below and I'll be sure to pass along your secrets to a long, spicy marriage.

Hugs,
Deena Remiel

Now I'm thrilled to Introduce to you Anita Clenney!

The Belated Honeymoon
I just got back from a wonderful trip to Martha's Vineyard where I participated in a book panel and book signing at Bunch of Grapes Bookstore. We had a standing room only crowd who came to listen to the talk on agents and publishing. It was my first time being on a panel and since I'm not much for public speaking, I was quite nervous.

I guess I did okay since a gentleman commented to my husband, who was in the audience, that I seemed like an old pro at this. The entire event was recorded and will play on a local TV channel, as will the interviews the authors did.

Did I mention my husband? We’ve been married for almost 14 years, and have NEVER had a honeymoon. Long story, but we decided this was it. We stayed at The Cleaveland House, a bed and breakfast owned by author Cynthia Riggs who writes the Victoria Trumbull Mystery series starring the 92 year old amateur sleuth. If you love cozy mysteries with a feisty, energetic 92 year old, this is the story for you. Cynthia's house has been in her family for eight generations. Built in 1750, this house is full of history and charm, from a ship's plank on the wall to books written by her parents, and stories of births and deaths on the island. It was so gracious of Cynthia to allow hubby and I, my agent, and all those authors to descend on her homeplace like a horde of locusts. We had the most marvelous time with a blend of varied personalities like something out of a book.

You could find writers sipping their wine in the parlor, howling with laughter in the kitchen, pulling lettuce in the garden or meditating by the goldfish pond. You might say it was a crowded honeymoon, but we thought it was perfect. We toured the island, sat on the beach, laughed until our sides hurt, cooked, and relaxed over dinners and wine, talking about writing, plotting, and killing characters. Cynthia is known for killing off Martha's Vineyard residents in her books. In fact, she wears a sweat shirt that says, "Careful, you might end up in my next book." Martha's Vineyard has lovely scenery and lovely people.

Some things were unexpected, like the Dumptique at the local dump, where you can find treasures out of other's trash. I found some books and a pair of reading glasses, but my trip still had more adventures in store at the airport as hubby and I were ready to fly home. I rescued a crow that had gotten trapped in a trash can. His claw was tangled in a rope of plastic. I saved the crow and sold two books to the onlookers who were very impressed with my bravery. It was the first time I had been to Martha's Vineyard, and I was thrilled that hubby and I had gotten our honeymoon after almost 14 years. And the best of all, this is going to become an annual trip. A meeting of writers at The Cleavland House to brainstorm, laugh, and have fun.
And maybe another honeymoon.

Oh I love how there's some information about each authors.. whether its about characters for their books or about their trip to the Vineyards. I'm not sure what I'd chose for immortals to keep the spark.. maybe unexpected trips where you blindfold your partner and hire a private jet where "no talking" is allowed to a special destination of your choice with a surprise picnic at the top of the eiffel tower or something? XD Just a thought Deena! ;)

I thought Anita's was interesting too with the vineyards and how authors just got together and were hanging out all over the place. Glad you guys finally got your honeymoon! ;) I also like how Cynthia had a shirt that said careful :D lol made me laugh ;)

anyways, I'd love to be entered ;)

*waves to Leanne* you're doing so good on your blog hon!

Great post!

Deena, love your suggestions. I do my best to get at least one date night with my husband each month. Whipped cream and chocolate syrup...yum ;-)

Anita, 14 years before the first honeymoon? Wow! That's incredible. It sounds like you and your husband had a great time. Good for you!

Thanks to both of you ladies for sharing your stories.

Those were great suggestions on how to keep the romance in our couple's life. I admit to calling my dh several times a week to say I love him. When I know I'll be away from home overnight, I do leave him post-it messages where I know he'll find them. It pleases him and in return, it pleases me... The other suggestions would be great, BUT, no way in hell would he be willing to take dance lessons or let me eat off his body!

froggie.

You do have to keep the spark alive. A short erotic text or email--a sort of this is waiting for you for later kind of thing ;) -- can be a good one too.

And I've been married a few more than 14 years and still haven't actually done a "honeymoon" in a formal way. Anita, your honeymoon sounds like it was a nice time.

Don't need ot win Anita's book, I bought it today at lunch time, now it's just waiting to be read. Do still need one of Deena's though ;)

Leanne, thanks for the blog, it looks like a good one.

Hi ladies. Fourteen years was a long time to wait for a honeymoon, but we weren't able to take one right after we married. It's complicated. Then we had kids quickly, and after that our vacation time was spent taking them to see the grandparents who lived out of state. So this was a real treat. I adore my kids, but it was great to relax and not worry about them. The grown up time with friends was wonderful.

And thanks for buying the book Michelle. I adore you. :)

Absolutely awesome posts! Deena and Anita, it is a pleasure to meet you both. It was nice to read about such wonderful ways to keep the fire alive in one's marriage. The belated honeymoon after fourteen years was a touching moment to share and read about also.

I've added both books to my list of must haves and going to look them up pronto!. The covers are gorgeous, by the way!

Leanne, you did a fabulous job with your hop and your blog! Loving it all the way!

To keep love alive, I recommend the immortals invest in massage oil and shower gel. There is nothing like a nice, hot shower, washing each others backs, climbing into fresh sheets and massaging each other. Just don't fall asleep!

And what a fun place for a panel and signing. I love a good B&B, too.

Awesomness!! I travel a lot so I leave little surprises hidden all over the house like at the end of the month I will leave a letter and gift card to some place he likes to eat in the calendar so when he turns the page there it is. I also order things on Amazon with out telling him so he gets a surprise. I send postcards and post songs on FB for him. When I am home I wake him up with a full body massage

Deena, love the suggestions! The Mr & I always set Sunday as date day. When we were dating, we'd go salsa dancing at this restaurant by the lake. =)

Anita, couldn't help but notice in your bio that you read Nancy Drew/Hardy boys. Me too!! I still have all of them in their yellow/blue bookcovers. =) The Mr & I have been married for 2 years now and we still haven't taken a honeymoon. Glad to here that not everyone goes immediately on their honeymoon.

Leanne, thanks for the giveaway!

and anita that sounds like such a fabulous replacement honeymoon! my husband and i did something of the opposite nature. we skipped out on a wedding wedding and had a honeymoon after a short church service. i told him i didn't want to invest in one until we had been married at least ten years :)

Hi Deena! Hugs to you my friend! Awesome advice! I've been with my hubby since HS. So we always have to find ways to keep it fresh!
Hi Anita! Hubby and I took a belated honeymoon to London and Scotland. We were married in the summer and had a company trip planned in the winter to travel there, so extended the trip as our honeymoon. Was kinda weird to get married and then go to work a few days later.
