NEW RELEASE PARTY
I am proud to announce that
BOOKS READ 'N' MAKEUP DONE
is hosting "The Gift" 's release party!
Please Welcome Author Kat Deacon!!!!

CONGRATS KAT!!!

Hey everybody! My name is Kat Deacon and welcome to Leanne’s wonderful blog and my release party for THE GIFT!! I’m both excited and terrified that my novella is out floating around in the world. I’ve dreamed of being a writer my whole life…well that is after my mom explained that it was impossible to be Wonder Woman. Alas, no lasso of truth or invisible jet in my future, but that didn’t stop me from imagining a world where I could have those things and more.

My love of writing grew from a passion for books. My mom used to take us to the library several days out of the week. For one…she loved reading. For two…it was a great inexpensive way to entertain three kids. Her closet was filled with romance novels. I used to hide in there and read. I was fascinated by the fantasy and historical romances. Tales of true love and happy endings… they made me want to write stories like that. I remember crying over a particularly moving scene and my mom opening up the closet door and finding me there surrounded by her books. She smiled and shook her head and said “It’s really good isn’t it?”

I never gave up on writing. Through marriage, kids, and now going back to college, I’m still writing. I think those of us who love writing have to jot things down or risk going crazy sometimes. Those feelings you get when you’re reading an exciting or moving book and you just have to know what happens next are what makes me want to be a writer. I’m still learning and trying to get everything just right but, here I am with my first release. It is terrifying and wonderful all at once.

I hope you enjoy my novella about a girl discovering who she is and finding her confidence. She has two great friends that I think you will love as well…and I can’t forget to mention the deliciously hot guy that she’s totally crushing on. Here’s a blurb for THE GIFT.

All Seri Graham wanted for her sixteen birthday was a date for junior prom and a car. Not much...right? Seri goes from mall shopping and chick flicks to demon smiting and meeting her Gregorian Watcher mother for the first time.

A mysterious gift arrives from her absentee mother and Seri's life is forever altered. Along with her two besties Maya and Lucy, using the gift from her mother, Seri tries to survive long enough to discover who and what she is and make to the prom.

Now available at www.etreasurespublishing.com!!

Visit my blog at http://katherinedeacon.blogspot.com/

As a way of thanking everyone for helping me celebrate my brand new release, I am giving away Seri's locket from the book. One lucky commenter will be randomly selected and will receive this beautiful sterling silver necklace. Others will be randomly selected to receive the Romance Trading Card for the book. Good luck everyone!!

Thank you everybody for stopping by!! I really appreciate the support. It's scary, but exciting to have something I wrote out there for the world to see. I think my mom would be very proud....or at least I hope she would be. She loved books and shared that joy with me enough to make me want to be a writer.

I totally agree Marilyn!!

Let's party!

:) I've loved reading the process of your book and your story has been inspiring to keep me writing myself! Can't wait to read it!! Hopefully you guys get lots of comments and your book sells hot hot hot :)
Oh I loved your interview! I think that's really funny that you'd hide out in her closet reading and I love how she caught you and just smiled. What a cool mom, libraries are the best! :)

And the book cover looks great and so does the excerpt, though I'm sitting here going HOW do you say her name Seri? Sar eeee? lol XD sorry when I'm reading I try my best to know how to say character names or it will drive me bonkers!

But, congrats on your release! I'm really happy for you and I love that you have it out there! Its awesome!

Thanks Chelsea!!! I'm the same way with names lol!! It's pronounced (Seer- ree). Yeah...my mom was pretty cool. Who else let's a 14 year old read steamy romances? I was raised pretty strictly for the most part. No dating or going out without supervision and church every Sunday, but she let me read almost anything I could get my hands on. She trusted me to not pick anything too inappropriate. I miss her. ;)

You amaze me every day!

Kat this is great I am so excited for you! My mom used to take the 3 of us to the library too. Ours was small and I read my way through the stacks. I loved that feeling of discovery and can't wait to explore your new world!

Leanne, it took me about a month to write this story. The characters were very cooperative so I lucked out!

Thanks Brenda!! I heart you for your loving supportive girl power attitude!! You make me want to be a better writer just to deserve that enthusiasm.

Amanda, Libraries should be cherished simply for the opportunity it provides children to fall in love with the written word. Thanks for dropping by and I can't wait for all of you to read the book!

Wow, I can totally relate to you Kat.
I was also a Wonder Woman fan, but being blonde, I decided to become a pirate instead. A yes, many authors like ourselves jot things down all our lives. I recently told my hometown newspaper that most writes don't write because we want to. We write because we MUST. I have a feeling I'm going to like your work. :) Best of luck with your first release! :)

First Congrats Kat! I can't wait to read it! My mom let me read romances, historical bodice ripper romances, when I was as young as 12, as long as I was reading and mature enough to realize it was fiction. She says now she didn't but she did, I blame it on menopause lol. I am so happy you're now published. :)

*Waves* to my Menyon sistas!! Thank you so much for dropping by!!

Morrigan...from your mouth to God's ears!! *hugs* I'm hoping that one day both of our names will be on the NYT'S bestseller list ;)

Congrats! I'm excited for you and wish you tons of success.

My mom worked in the local library, so I'm lucky I "grew up" there. She also read a ton of romances (Harlequin Presents, anyone?), so I considered myself very lucky. Even my dad was up for a good Janet Daily or Sandra Brown.

Have a super time--I know it's hard work!
